I see the notification that the wiki will be replaced soon with a new documentation system but when will it actually be replaced?
We are working on the hotfixes right now, working on documentation is not everyone's favorite task unfortunately. :/ Hopefully soon. The skeleton of the new documentation can be seen there. Though lots of stuff does not work yet: https://documentation.beamng.com/
Are there plans to add official content documentation similar to the "existing content" section of the wiki? If not then I guess the community could make another wiki of sorts to document the game/official content/lore aspects of BeamNG.
Can I ask will the content I have worked for months on still be relevant for the new system thats gonna be implemented or not.....
Any help is really welcome There is an online mediawiki to restructured text converter that we can use
Is all the information linked with the "official content" like all the car wiki pages be ported over as well, it would save me a load of time with editing and stuff if I could know about now and stuff...
Would this be a direct port of the community created content or a developer written rendition? If it is the latter there would be massive potential for lore development.
Well I am your "Performance Comparison" guy on the wiki, so if you can, make sure those are all ported over so I dont have to go have a thermonuclear meltdown rebuilding 25 comparison tables because each one is about between 1 to 5 hours worth of work for me, 1 hour for the small number of vehicle types as for the big ones, thats about 5 hours worth of time...
I hope the new documentation makes everything a lot easier. it looks so much better and is so much nicer to use. We'll have some documentation in there on how you guys can edit/improve it soon i hope.
I think you need a private "Beta Documentation Test" Group for the new system to be tested I mean if its easy to code in and stuff the tables are what I enjoy doing, if you need your first guinea pig I am here if you need it for someone who will pick it apart and dismantle it --- Post updated --- No problem, I feel like one of the main Wiki editors who I feel deserve their own badge like how you have the "Staff Member" Badge there should be a "Wiki Editors" badge as well but ehh its up to you
The sources of the documentation for you to play around and get your feet wet a bit Unpack and run make_public.bat - hopefully works The result is then in _build/html
The one section to be added to that could be "Game Content" that would cover a lot of stuff you could toss in "In game Vehicles" and "Maps" into that section if its possible to add that at this stage of things
Yeah I think some thought still needs to go into it about where to put it and stuff but yeah that will come eventually
