Your friendly neighborhood SysAdmin here, reporting on resolved issues.

For people with the "GPU stopped responding" error:
    - Update with clean install to nVidia hotfix driver 431.68 (Caution: you will loose all your custom settings!)
    - Update to the August cumulative patch for Windows 10 (your OS build will increase to 18362.295, a reboot will be required)
    - Update to BeamNG 0.17
    - In the nVidia Control Panel, change 3D settings for every application, not in the global settings tab (especially the "Optimize for Compute" option)
    - After these changes, I went out for a trip and left my PC physically disconnected from mains power for about 8 hours. Afterwards, my PC does not throw the error anymore
    - Optional: You might want to reseat your components on the motherboard. Do this at your own risk, and follow all manufacturer's recommendations.
    - Optional: You might want to check for updated BIOS on your motherboard manufacturer's website (more vulnerabilities have been discovered both in Windows and Intel processors). Do this at your own risk, and follow all manufacturer's recommendations.

For people with no audio in BeamNG after the 0.17 update:
    - Check the logs in your %USERPROFILE%\Documents\BeamNG.drive folder. You might find a line similar to this one:
SFXFMODDevice::init - failed to init system (Error initializing output device.)
    - Check that the correct drivers for your sound card are installed on your system:
Select the Start button and type device manager in the search box, then select it from the list of results.
Select the arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers to expand it.
Right-click (or press and hold) your sound card, then select Properties. (Other devices other than your sound card might show, such as nVidia HDMI audio device)
Click on the "Driver" tab. If a "HD Audio Device" is shown, with a Microsoft Driver, you will need to download and install the correct driver from your motherboard or sound card manufacturer's website.
    - Launch BeamNG.drive and confirm you get sound (remember to turn on your speakers and check power and signal wires)
    - Further steps: other fixes for sound problems are outlined here

I love this update and especially the traffic tool. Performance seems to have been optimized a whole lot.
The new sounds for the Semi and the Bus are really fitting these American models, but I would like a louder idle, or a slider option to "flatten"/normalize loud and weak sounds.
    Thank you devs

(english is not my first language ok sorry)
This is something that I've been experiencing ever since I got this game (June 6th, 2015)

The thing is that both SMAA and FXAA look 99% the same, being the only difference that FXAA looks a little bit more blurry.
But the reason why we have antialiasing in videogames is to reduce the "spikyness" in textures, which in BeamNG it almost looks like it's permanently disabled.

    Here's some proof:

lmao I just realised that using the GIF editor makes it look exactly the same

Ok, so I'll just upload the three photos so you can be the judge, altough you can try it yourself in-game:

    https://megaup.net/49Kcx/Disabled.png
    https://megaup.net/4PHEU/FXAA.png
    https://megaup.net/4PHEV/SMAA.png

You can see what I mean If you look at the top of the front grille, also in the chrome-coloured window borders. You can also see it in the shadows of the ramp in the background.

    Other additional info:

    • Graphics quality completely maxed out, using the "Custom" tab.
    • I'm using a 1920x1080 screen with that same resolution in-game.
    • Cleared cache right before taking those screenshots above.

Maybe I'm just being too dramatic about it, but Anti-Aliasing is something that adds a lot to a game.

Also I'd like to report a few broken mods:
    • Ibishu Pessima Hatchback is currently broken, it causes a fatal vehicle exception;
    • ETK W is broken, basically all the wheel/transmission system is broken and the entire car body is shaking;
    • The Wentward DT45/35L don't have the engine sound;
The Gavril Roamer has "NO TEXTURE", both in game and in safe mode... I cleared the cache and verified the game integrity twice, with no results.
There is a clipping tree with collisions in the bridge near the rural gas station in East Coast.

Last thing, the T75 destroyer has its exhaust pipes clipping through the dumper body; if you tilt up the dumper you'll strip the exhaust.

Um... is this intended?) I found it after the crash test, when a pickup truck crashed into the front wing of the door she opened, and then found, as it specifically open))

I found a minor AI navigation issue on Hirochi raceway
It's a pretty bad-quality video, but you can still see the mirror breaking off the AI Civetta on the booth's gate as it collides with it. This one was lucky, I've seen some cars crash more violently into this booth.

Same here, before update my CPU is at 3.2GHz temp is always below 90°C and the RAM is plenty.
After the update my CPU temp is over 95°C, thermal down to 2.8GHz and the "Below 2GB RAM" appears very frequently.

Amazing work on this update. Rendering speed is better here. No odd-ball slowdowns here either.
East Coast map is amazing. So amazing, it makes my Roane County map look like *mud*. Speaking of which, love all the new dirt roads on the map, lots of fun adventuring.
I have quite a blast with around 16 or 17 vehicles on my new Ryzen 3700x system here on the new improved East Coast. Glad I updated finally.
Absolutely does worlds for immersion. I could even haul 6 or 7 pianos around in a moving truck, without the FPS going below minimum 'full speed' requirement. It was a bit close though, but I was often GPU limited despite a few spots with rather high amounts of draw calls (otherwise rather consistent performance, though there was 11,500 draw calls at one point - ouch!). Still plenty playable and there were a lot of vehicles on screen at that moment. Game is almost always over 60fps and GPU-limited here when there is 1 vehicle per CPU core or less, and 20~30fps with 14~17 vehicles in-play (numbers quoted with traffic AI enabled, my Ryzen 3700x is not overclocked but IS a good CPU sample, with decently quick memory).

Seriously, I am impressed with the improvements, and the Traffic App being part of the game now is just icing on the cake. Finally, the cake isn't a lie (and the icing is delicious, if a bit fattening).
This really improves both presentation AND replay value to the game - great work!

    No nasty bugs yet.
    Thanks!

Updates to GPU rendering, improving speed of rendering = more work for the CPU to do as it's not waiting for the GPU as much. Physics use the FPU logic inside your processor extensively, especially with a lot of vehicles on the screen, or a very complicated vehicle such as a tractor-trailer / articulated lorry. Use a frame-limiter to 30~60fps (either in your video driver or in the game settings), or switch on some more graphics options to slow down rendering a bit, that should lighten up how fast the CPU must work.
If you have an intel desktop processor*, consider getting better cooling. Make sure your computer case, fans, and heat-sinks are free of dirt, debris, unlucky bugs, pureed rodents, cat slices / hair (and if it's a laptop, don't use it while it's sitting directly on the bed / blankets / carpeting / soft furniture / large domestic animal / remains of said large domestic animal - use it on a table or other hard surface).

*Sometimes intel CPU fans with the push-pin style (OEM default) cooler come loose, especially if your PC gets bumped around a bit (desktops only), consider seeing if it's loose or not otherwise securely fastened. Cheap bolt-down coolers are available online but that could be a lot of work to install it (and rather daunting for most).

8~16GB of system RAM or more is best. You shouldn't need more than 8GB for this game, just make sure to close out the web browser before playing if you have 4~8gb.

Please consider fixing your CPU cooling. It's likely that the new optimizations leverage new instruction sets, allowing your CPU to work harder than before (it can process more data in the same amount of time). Even on a stock cooler, approaching 90 is not normal for modern CPUs.
First of all you should blast your cooler fins with some compressed air, especially if you are on a laptop. Be careful not to spin the fans too fast while you blast the cooler, old fans can become brittle and shatter under stress.
If you are on a desktop, I'd recommend a 212 Evo or similar cooler if you know how to swap it, or at least replace your thermal compound. The Arctic MX-4 is what I use for production systems and the MX-2 is usually enoutgh elsewhere. These options are easily bought online.
Please read all documentation you can find for your specific PC model before attemting these operations, and check compatibility of the coolers with your CPU socket.

Very minor, but in the level selector:

A few revamped maps are missing BeamNG logo as official content.

The ETK sedan/fastback/convertible mod is very unstable on 0.17.

The convertible's engine & front suspension breaks instantly.

    upload_2019-8-18_7-22-42.png screenshot_2019-08-18_07-22-38.png

The sedan and fastback models become unstable and explode (destroying other cars around it too as a byproduct), causing a fatal exception.

Pretty sure that occurs when the levels have been modified.

Delete any mods you may have that alter the affected maps and remove anything in Documents/BeamNG.drive/levels related to the map (eg. the west_coast_usa folder)

I just noticed that now in steam the map and the car that you're using doesn't show up, can be that possible?
