Remember Rigs of Rods? When you had a playable character that could walk around, and a garage with all the cars you could pick? Is that possible to implement into BeamNG?

IIRC doing anything better than a walking pace freecam would require modifying the game engine

I mean, a walking freecam would be nice enough.

I certainly would not mind a walking freecam with ability to open doors/hoods/trunks

Without a visible player model, it could be doable

The walking freecam idea would be cool, and it will also not have dumb ragdolls n crap and would really fit the minimalist human role.

You would have to create a "contraption" that would mimic the motion and figure out how to get it to push off the ground to get moving

there is a command within the game code which basically lets you spawn a player at your current position. This is a few years old tho, so I am unsure of it´s function right now.

And no, you don´t have a playermodel, just a flying camera

this would be really cool, even just a free cam limited to a certain speed and that sticks on the ground.

I'm all for a player character in the style of the My Summer Car protagonist (no model) with basic movement ability and the ability to interact with and enter vehicles.

I mean, they did this pretty well with RoR, and that game is 14 years old. It's possible. They would definitely have to rework it though. The walking in RoR was kinda janky. MSC's style would work pretty well, especially if you could enter and exit cars. They could bring back the feature where you walk into a garage and the car selection catalog pops up. I don't know how well this can be done, but what if (like in MSC) you could open components of the car. I know there's a mod for that, but it's completely outdated.
