How can you get this overlay?

    I dont really know what to call it though. The thumbnail of the video, and 1:03.

    But really theres no way to get that level of detail I guess its a "secretive" Dev function that only the developers have access to and we dont get that sadly

    I believe the "Overlay" is pre-rendered.

    You can visually isolate drivetrain components from the parts menu and turn on normals only shading in the world editor visibility options. Those shots were composited from two takes using those features.

    I was doing some camera tricks where I would record with the "depth" map visible, then record with the normal visibility. Then in post, I would use the depth map to control a depth of field sweep, blurring based on gradient scaling. Was a great way to go from focus on the interior, to focus on the horizon. Computationally a PITA with 4k footage though haha
