With inspiration from another member, I've started from scratch on this. I downloaded the model from the original website, separated the wheels from the body in Blender, borrowed some jbeams from the game and spent most of the day trying to keep the body from doing this... Does anyone know how to keep the body from sliding like this? I've done another mod too and it stays put just fine... Model: Spike205 Jbeams: Gabester Blender model tweaks: Me
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine the problem is that the dae isnt centred onto the jbeam, it only looks like it is on a certain angle. do another vid with the jbeam showing, that might make it easier to help.
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine How do you center the jbeam? By aligning the model in Blender at x0, y0, z0 yes?
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine i'm not sure, but in 3ds, i just aligned the dae so it had equal amounts along the center line ( found the center line by doing 0,0,0 but it wasn't perfectly center so i had to fix it)
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine I see. I used jcrew3002 tutorial to get this far. It is explained that you must align X,Y.Z at zero and he explains how to do that, which I've done. It does seem a bit off when I do that so I tweak it to match ingame. Maybe that's screwing it up...? - - - Updated - - - I fixed it. It was an alignment issue as you said, thank you. Each of my parts origin points were in different places because I moved everything around to get the car to look right. I had to "Object, Transform, Origin to 3D Cursor" for each part. That put each of the parts origin point in the same place. So...did you happen to read the end of the post where I credited the artist and linked to the website where I got it? FYI: You don't have to create your own model to make mods for this game. You can modify existing content...
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine Looks like a good start. I'll look forward to seeing more updates. Also was centering the body all it took to keep it from sliding around like it was before? Oh ya, and this my 350th post, so I thought this might be appropriate: (imported from here)
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine Well, the body was already centered, but the origin point was not. I moved the car around in blender until it was where I wanted it, then added the wheels. When everything is where you want it, you select each part and move the origin point. No clue if this is the right way to do it but it worked. lol
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine I was thinking if you go to object => apply => location, rotation, and scale ( in object mode ) it would fix it. I may be wrong.
Re: [WIP] Delorean DMC-12 Time Machine The tutorial by jcrew3002 explains exactly that, but I was more concerned how it was looking in game and kept moving stuff and forgot about this step basically.
it looks like tdev didn't like you doing this, yeah ill never understand him now, first he cares, then he doesn't, now he does? idk anymore, i give up trying to understand the rules to do with using other peoples mesh's
I see he edited my first post but there's no change....? There was no file to download nor will there be... I'm doing this for practice...learning how this stuff works. Other peoples meshes? There's lots of offerings in the "Vehicles" section that use meshes created by other people...Drowsysam's Black Hawk for one...
no change? there's nothing there at all anymore: @Below, probably because you made the post in the first place, so the forums still let you see the original, but i've tried on multiple browsers and computer's, but your post shows up like the picture in this post
Wow!! Really?? - - - Updated - - - The wheels are messed up.. That being said to fix it (if the bolide has it) then try copying all of the wheels there might be 2 of them! Which is why they might be turnoff weird liken that!! And break up the parts! So it crashes well.. I've done it many times with a dodge caravan and dodge challebger (both on marshal JBEAM)
The wheels are off the Covet. They're the closest I cared to get to the original wheels. I didn't know how to isolate just the wheels, considering the file was an .obj and the car and all features were one part. I'll be concentrating on Jbeam from now on.
The only things I did differently is, I credited the artist that created the model and the jbeams, and I didn't upload the files for release. Not sure why I couldn't, others have used 3rd party meshes and released them. ? I only posted it to get help when needed really.
Not sure we ever will... There was no reason given for the other guys thread getting deleted so how do we know how to share it properly, if at all...
