Found this in the game files while trying to find solutions to my mod not working: Don't know if it is meaningful or not. Its not much more than a hello world file. But if it is new, it could signify intent to electrify the ETK800. Or it could be purely related to the research version of the game. Or it could be nothing.
Speaking of ETK 800, I wonder if someone would make the old ''non-tweaked'' body for 0.16 now, cus it just looks like a newer model or something to me now because of the tweaking xd ..
Surprised to see the vehicle shape updates, SBR was the only one that I thought needed it. Some of these will take some time to get use to. Hopper new parts look great, custom config looks appropriate now. IMO it looked toyish before these updates.
Yeah, it seems the new update has killed some BeamNG features that my mod relied on (such as the mapping system it used). So I am now rushing through the process of replacing the old with the new. Then I need to try and patch the features that I added into the new systems. But I do seem to be running into a weird issue where the dashboard doesn't load when the vehicle is loaded, but then when you reload the vehicle (ctrl+r), it loads and works fine. Which has me a little confused.
Anything in logs/console on first load? Sadly dashboard features are bit unknown to me, all I can think is to spy on eSBR dashboard as that is whole digital display thing.
I've got to the point of getting it running with the new map system. But the BeamNG navigation system puts the arrow in the centre of the display, which is something I have never been keen on. With the old Nav system, I added some code to offset the rotation and move the arrow down (similar to the above picture). However, I haven't got it to work in motion yet (all I have got is moving the arrow so far). So I am currently trying to semi-reverse-engineer the new mapping system to figure out how I can achieve the old features that I had. I also need to figure out how to rescale it so that it doesn't stretch on the wider navigation display that I use. I have a feeling this is really gonna throw a spanner in the works for the R20. Since it also allowed for the player to zoom the map in and out, and from what I can tell, the new system has some stuff integrated for that, but it doesn't actually work. Edit: The old system:
Love the looks of the eSBR...! As usual, update notes are an awesome read while I can't play just yet... Thanks a lot for the passionate work, much appreciated!
I've now got the navigation system fully set up correctly. However, It has got me wondering about their code. They have it set up to do a 3D transform on the map as you are driving, to tilt the map as speed increases, so that the player can see more ahead. But to me it feels like they might have borked that slightly, since when combined with the rotation of the car, it just doesn't look right. Maybe its just me, but take a proper look at how the map is rotating and moving on the official vehicles navigation units and see for yourself.
The only changes that have been recently added are in the SBR section. Nobody has any idea how the new sound system or electric motors work. Speaking of which, can the devs please update the sound section of the wiki? I can't figure it out.
Electric motors have been in the game for quite a while now. Its basically the same as a normal engine as far as BeamNG is concerned. It just needs batteries as a fuel source rather than petrol or diesel. Not much has changed about how electric motors work in the update, however there is now a proper controller for them which can handle multiple electric motors gracefully. However, the new electric sound effects do make a huge difference in how electric cars feel to drive in game.
