Moltifino What is it? It is a fully custom map with hand made terrain and roads loosely based off of Monaco. The main purpose of the map was to build a city circuit that encompassed some of the more iconic (and nice to drive) parts of Formula 1 tracks from around the world. As part of the track there are turns inspired by Sochi, Monaco and Baku that should lead to a challenging track with both high speed corners, mid speed continual radius turns as well as some of the big stops that you would come to expect with a city track. But that is not all! As part of the map there will be a fully explore-able city with a beach side downtown area, an up town and upper class area, suburbia and a huge range of mountainous roads. Is that not enough for you? Well that's excellent as there will also be a large forested area which will encompass 1 (maybe 2) off road rally stages as well as a park which will have a rally cross track. Oh and a 1 mile long drag strip. What is going to be included? There will be a huge amount of time trials (probably over 15) included. As it stands I haven't played around with AI and scenarios but I would like to do that with this map so expect to see some AI and scenario stuff at some point. What is the progress like? For the progress it will be broken down into the main areas: Base terrain - 100% Foliage - 90% Downtown - 80% Up town - 80% Suburbia - 80% Mountain - 90% Park - 90% Forest - 90% Pits - 90% Castle - 95% Beach - 80% Drag strip - 70% How long have you been working on this? As of April 22nd 2019 I have probably spent about 40 hours on this map and I am no where near finished. As of the Beta 0.1 release, that number is now over 250 hours. Want to watch me create the map? Most weekends I stream on my Twitch channel, if you have questions around doing some of the mapping stuff feel free to pop in and ask me questions or join my Discord and ask! Things I would love help with If you wish to 3D model some buildings for me and texture them (with collision meshes) I would be eternally grateful and I have no issues with crediting you for them. As this is a project in my free time I have no means of paying you with real money though Anyone who knows about Beam AI and scenario editing would be amazing to give me some pointers as I am going in a bit blind in that area. So what does it look like? Wow, looks really good, is there any way to make a overhead map with what you are planning on making? a 2 minute ms paint drawing will do, i just want to get an idea on what you are doing.
So far from the screenshots I can say that it's an interesting project to take on, especially basing it on a real-life street layout
This was the original hand drawn map for the full city circuit This is a full overhead view where you can just about see the layout It's loosely based
Thank you to RetrO_TyT for helping with some of the custom asset creation! What about the rest of the map I hear you ask? I've been hard at work Currently the ToD is a bit screwy which leaves the pictures a little over exposed but that'll bit fixed eventually
I have spent some time building out a load of of the cliff area as well as fixing the time of day settings so it now looks decent! There is 1 area of the town to still put toads in (and make some small changes) then the roads will be finished. Next is the rally stage and then we are going to get on to adding some vegetation into the map
So its been a little while since I have posted an update, I am glad to say some progress has been made I am currently looking at releasing a first playable version within the next month hopefully.
