Yeah lets try and NOT go down the EA and Ubisoft route shall we that is a toxic area that doesnt agree at all with me Yeah as I mentioned EA and Ubisoft have ruined the paid DLC and well if you watch Jim Sterling on youtube you know he HATES Paid DLC and anything of that sort, as for the Automation article yes that was paid for and I got it after a bit of help from KillRob and I have used that but they do show developer updates and stuff on their youtube channel along with Beam too but again it takes a long time to get updates out for both games but since Automation uses more of a community to help the 8 man dev team out and this uses the same you would expect things to happen, its a pity we dont have the likes of Hard Rooster on this forum for modding help, he is a Maestro when it comes to building things in blender, but hes an honorary Automation developer
Dude, calm down and knock off the straw mans... Stop telling people to "shush" because you keep misrepresenting what they are saying. All he said is "hypothetically if they had the budget they could hire more people and push updates faster". Which is true. They don't have the budget, and it would not be efficient, but he is not saying the game is dead or updates take too long or 1-6 person team could do better. Yes, there is a point where the marginal product from added workers diminishes. But we are talking about a 40-something person team in a world of giant world wide companies. They are not near that point. He said 3 months/update is fine but people would prefer shorter. Which is also true. All else being equal, most of us would prefer more updates. Hypothetically if recources were infinite, the pace could pick up.
I fully agree with you, its not the BeamNG way, its underhanded and a good way of getting more money out of people, it shouldnt be allowed....it should be Free Updates until the game is fully completed!
I don't think the "free updates until the game is complete" is something anyone is debating. The issue seems to me to be if we would rather they start on a new project or continue on this one at a point when this project is complete and otherwise not profitable for a company to contunue pouring recources into.
I'm not sure why people say its dying, I'm just doing the same thing from 2016, crashing vehicles in every possible way since the methods are endless.
NO y'all DON'T. 1, i never said that beamng is dying or anyway implied that the game was dead (or at least i don't recall). 2, i know that this game requires a lot of time to make vehicle, but a bigger team could solve that problem, which brings us to number 3. A bigger development team is reasonable as beam could use some extra "man power", all they need is a little more MONEY like i said in a previous POST. 4, OBVIOUSLY 40 people is not enough to make monthly updates that's why i said more like 200 people. As for number 5, and 6, i was not trying to compare turn 10 to beamng, or forza to beamng.drive, i was just stating an example.
I think the reason why Beam is dying because of those repetive "crash compilation" videos that spam YouTube.
I am 100% sure that is not the reason. Actually, I'm sure that's one of the reasons why BeamNG is still going - people are making these videos out of the game, even if they are low-quality garbage.
Those videos are like all the "Spiderman driving Lightning McQueen funny crash video" videos in GTA IV from a few years ago, that neither helped nor harmed the game since the audience was all little kids, but in the end probably made more people aware of the game.
"Wait, that's how cars crash in this game? That must look awesome for a police chase! Maybe flying off the ramp like in the video. Wow, my imagination is going everywhere. I might look into getting this, could be fun. I mean, it's only 25 dollars..."
I agree with your post and made an irrational jump to conclusion as he was fairly often and thought he was the one that started this post. But my point still stands with the budget. If we rewind a few years when beam was at an all time high point for sales after people like Jacksepticye and Markiplier played this game, they had a bi following and some people (lets say 11%) bought the game. Thats a fair amount of people. Beamng doesn't get as many sales these days and therefor not having a budget like they had before. With more budget they could get this game to a very good standard. A new graphics engine, and a few more people. But it simply unreasonable to have a team bigger than 50 people at the current time. If you want the team to go bankrupt, its the perfect way to go. But i know i'd rather a 3 month period then a failed game. I like your answer, i should've paid more attention to who wrote the thread first. But like i said, my point stands on the budget. --- Post updated --- Exactly. RoR was a very advanced game for its time. Beamng does have a following but it just simply doesn't add up to the point of how he was comparing it to Forza.
i was not comparing Forza to this game, i was just using it as an example --- Post updated --- And as for the all budget thing, you still don't seem to understand the difference between a hypothetical statement and a full statement.
Alright. This has become really off topic. I understand that you weren't comparing it, it looks that way once you say that. I'm okay to put this behind me so we can get this thread back on the topic.
Yeah I already saw some cancer videos of this channel, this the most embarrassing "beamng" channel ever STOP IT!
