Hi, I was thinking of buying the RX 570 8GB, but is it like the AMD FX where it looks really good but it is slow? If not, should I get Nvedia's new GeForce GTX 1660? If not those to cards, I am on a low budget, so which one should I buy? I want to play on medium-high settings at a smooth FPS rate. Also, I cannot run SLI or Crossfire because my motherboard (MSI A320M Pro-vh Plus) only has 1x PCI-E x16 slot. Thank you for your time!

At that point, you're better off getting an RX 580. The 1660ti is an ok choice too, it about ties with the 580 in terms of performance.

    I have a 570 and it barely beats a 1060 imo

The 570 is a great card, I get 60 fps in Dishonered 2 at 1080p with high settings and all fancy features turned on, 120 fps in Doom at high.

Remember that AMD cards in this and some other games gets black streaks all over the map, which is caused something in AMD driver, disabling grass fixes that, but AMD is not very interested of fixing the issue.

Another point to consider is that generally AMD cards use more power, make more heat and require larger PSU than equally performing Nvidia cards.

So you need to know if your PSU will be enough and if your case cooling is enough.

RX570 is 150W and RX580 is 180W, compare that to gtx1080 which if far superior in performance and consumes 180W, gtx1060 being 120W.

    https://www.beamng.com/threads/video-card-comparison-guide-mid-to-high-end.58984/

Beware of nasty surprises like extra costs from higher wattage PSU or need to have better airflow in case.

Also this era AMD GPUs use components that are more prone for coil whine. (Some Nvidia cards can do that too, usually cost tells something, there is more to GPUs than just performance).

For a budget build they are fine, but it is good to know what you are sacrificing to get that lower cost.

Turbo fan (Radial fan) designs will be very loud, worth to keep in mind, again those are also cheaper.

With your CPU, in this game, there is no point going much faster options, your CPU will limit graphical performance at high graphics quality more than for example gtx1070 would, not sure if gtx1060 can also outperform what your CPU is able to do, multiple cores will not help with that bottleneck.

Good choice, that will outperform the RX series by a fair amount :)

you'll likely get better driver support with the RX cards, but the new NVENC encoder is tough to beat.. also if you care about power consumption then Nvidia wins (slightly.. AMD cards only get bad power consumption when pushed to the edge clocks wise, so under light loads, or an underclock, you can slow the card slightly to get better efficiency.. not as good as nvidia, but still will leave you a quiet card at idle/lowloads).

Did i mention that my case has terrible airflow? (Rosewill FBM-X1) It has 1 80mm fan in the back, 1 120mm in the front, and the hole in the front of the case only gets a tiny bit of air.

I actually only have my PSU, mobo, and case. The CPU and RAM was what i thought I was going to get, but I changed my mind. I might be going with an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 and 8GB of 3000MHZ RAM.

I would not get that Ryzen, it is really weak for gaming, especially with BeamNG focus on getting fastest single core performance, going more than 8 thread CPU is not going to give too much of improvement unless one likes to play under 60fps or something, but low single core performance is going to make even 8 thread CPU pointless.

I would have an older i3 over that Ryzen for BeamNG.

    What do you recommend?
.I would like to stick with first gen but it is not required, put it needs to be on the AM4 socket.

ryzen 5 at least, the 1st gen 3 will bottleneck your 1660

    Here:
Anyway, i'm sure it would still bottleneck the RX card, so thanks.

I would think something like 1300X would be much better option than 1200.

If you want more cars, then 1800X or 1700X, but if that is expensive, then 1600X.

However 2nd gen 2700X would be whole different league, but so is the cost and that is kinda overkill in core count in this game currently.

i3-8350K would be great for small number of cars, but cost would be greater, that would be faster up to 4 cars than Ryzen 5 1600X, Ryzen might be faster with 5 cars, but might struggle with that as single core speed requirement starts to be high with max graphics, so multicore performance is limited by single core performance so easily.

However as you said it needs to be AM4 socket, so pick 1300X or 1600X if you want it to be first gen and tight budget, from 2nd gen 2600X and 2700X, but those are probably too expensive.

Those lower end Ryzen like 1200 are clocked lower and that is certain hit in performance and for BeamNG I think those should be avoided.

I would not buy CPU right now though as next generation Ryzen is available in few months and that is AM4 also.

    I would not get that.

    8% slower SC performance.

But maybe you have luck and you get chip that overclock well, so then that would do just fine.

If your budget is really not stretching to X version, then non 1600 has to be enough I guess.

If you're ok with 8% reduction the 5 1600X will be ok.

So, I'm thinking about getting my GPU within 2 months. Do you think I should rock the 1660 or the RX card? You guys gave great advice, but the poll is tied with the two cards. I talked to an expert in person, he said I should get the 1660, but I just want to make sure because he hasent
    Seen the game before.

    1660.

Radeon is fine for a budget when you are willing to risk, but there is no denying that there are lot of more issues and problems with them, if there would not be, then they would ask same price as Nvidia does, sadly Radeon drivers seem to be no good.

It has been years already so that Radeon drivers are problematic in games and fixes take super long time to come. Also there has been Radeon cards that work much better when underclocking memory, wish they would get their act together, but their aim is to make money at low cost market, that is not giving them much to spend on fixes etc. Also Radeon market share is minimal compared to Nvidia, so game makers don't really bother too much with Radeon specific issues.

Watch coil whine video by Buildzoid and you can learn how Radeon cards have type of components more likely to coil whine.

Simply put, you get what you pay for, if you are willing to accept potentially more issues, you might get quite good performance on budget, but there is higher risk to have problems then and I'm too old to run after cheapest option, with extra cost, most of the time you get some more value to your investment.

You can buy cheap and good, then you buy two, if your budget does not allow that, buy good one straight away.
