    Further testing proves no difference in timer performance between dtReal, dtSim, and dtRaw! That's.. good in the sense that, it's as good as it can be while still retaining slowmotion and pausing functionality, bad in the sense that. . . three digit precision isn't necessarily possible at full 1x speed simulation speed.

    Ah well (still haven't started on the damn modeling that I was to start on YESTERDAY)

    I took a few days off, needed to take a break after almost 75 days of straight wake up, work, go to sleep and do it again.

    Built up the scoreboards, got some flashing lights to show which lane wins. Still need to add in the decimal point for the time (top number) and speed (bottom number) but it's no big deal for that. Each gate will have a stylish, "QUARTER MILE" and "HALF MILE" titles above them. Bleachers have come a long way too, however suddenly the textures fell apart =D

    Cool to see more use of scripting on maps, it has been around for a while but I have seen very few maps actually make use of it and I am excited to see how you tie it into your map.

    Hey now! Thanks a lot!! Tried taking the day off today (mah birfday) but here I am with netflix running on a screen off to the side while I'm modeling and texturing parts of the level on my main screen hah. Just.. can't.. stop..

    This spring weather is REALLY tempting me to get back to work on my actual car though!! I must keep working on this, I seem to have this, "work 110% or nothing" on projects. Currently coming up with a proper name for the drag strip. Castle Run. Castle Run Rally. So Castle Run. . . Dragway? Castle Dragway.. Castle Speedway. We'll see soon enough!

    Logo done, "gate" done. There's a 1/4 MILE and 1/2 MILE gate. The logos are held in place by a sort of artsy set of 6 pillars representing the 6 drag lanes. Yay!

    Haha I wanted to orginally, but it's too darn short. I made it as long as I could and it's 1.25km long (just around .75 miles long)

    I DO have a . . . plaaaaan for something, but I don't want to talk bout it let alone think about it until I get more work done on things - they're piling up!!

    Lots of work on the drag area the past two days, all the walls/roadways etc are built now. Texturing work on bleachers, and scoreboard/gates nearly done.

    I've just let 6 cars run each lane until outta gas, and they're almost 1/4tank again. About an hour and a half of drag racing before they're outta gas! Lane 5 didn't survive this time, he's dead in a pile of smoke =D

    Astonishing work man! I cannot wait for the map to be finished and ready to be put on the repository. Can you also change the name of the last ai node of the track in the castle to castle run finish?

    I mentioned earlier that I named the final way point with a specific name so that when setting the ai mode to "manual" I could select the waypoint by name. Using this new method that I've done, I just program that name into the lua trigger itself. However, I've found that the best way currently is to set ai to CHASE and they are much more lenient in the way they go around corners at speed.

    Long story short - ai nodes aren't nameable as far as I know, but waypoints are and are used with "manual" mode best when set as a destination.

    I haven't spent time yet figuring out how best to have the rally, road race, and drag strip all connected in ONE map instead of having a separate "scenario" for each race type.

    I've REALLY been suffering with motivation to keep at this. With the weather warming up, ice/snow melting, sun shining through my window again, etc..

    Each day I force myself to open it and I add a few guard rails and a few other little details but. . . my initial push to develop Castle Run has all but faded completely. I keep telling myself that if I had a capable internet connection I'd be uploading already but who knows if that's true. (paying $100 for the fastest in my area and it's 500kb down and 60kb up)

    After testing and playing around for coming up on 3 months now I've already seen every accident, scenario, glitch, comedic driving.. and yet I've yet to share any of it because the level has been evolving non-stop.

    What do you guys do when this happens? I said, "I'll take a break until my bday" which was March 21, and in that break I started watching one show, then another, then another, and another still. I've binge watched 4 series and a season of another show during this, "short break."

    I’m getting Deja Vu. But it’s probably Just repetitiveness. I’m imagining your map is nearly done, so could also be that, but I doubt you’re that close...

    I wouldn’t say take a break, but try going to some new area of the map and doing something small. If that doesn’t work, than maybe finishing touches is the best thing to do. Yet, this is coming from 4 months about of map work, so you’re probably a ton different.

    Thanks for the suggestion, and the deja vu part made me laugh heh. Yesterday I went around the entire map and redid the road side details, double the detail with zero performance impact ftw!

    Do what ever makes you happy, it's your own life and your own mod, so it's your own choice :)

    Obviously, since you put so much effort into the map it would still be great to see it finished, although there is no deadline.

    You only get one shot at life, do what you love and live life with no regrets :D

    This shows 3km of the 15km stretch. Lots of work to do still. I'm thinking of having the 15km end on the ocean and some flag/markers to see how far along you can "skip" the cars at the end! =D

    BTW I hit the water at ~900km/hr at the end of the video heh.
