Hyundai really is becoming a great brand, in my opinion they sell some of the best looking everyday cars on the market. The problem is I still associate the brand with all the rubbish cars they used to make in the late 90's and early 00's... From this: To this:
This is the only obnoxious thing about old cars, apart from the godawful fuel economy. It does make for a fun game though, although the third-world roads here do amp up the difficulty.
The new Morgan Plus Six is also good. In fact, I think Morgan is the only brand that uses classic designs properly when bringing it to their modern cars. --- Post updated --- But it's a Hyundai, not a Genesis. Genesis is PURPOSED for elegant design, not this. No, they wouldn't. But if they used cues similar to the i30, then they would actually look tolerable and better. The Mazda6 looks better than this because Mazda actually made a simple and clean design. This doesn't cut it. It'd look way worse actually. I don't see it looking any good.
Comparing a South Korean mid-sizer's design to a modern British supercar doesn't sound like a good design comparison. Also, I kinda beg to differ about the 720S looking gorgeous.
Both designs serve different functions though, so it's improper to compare them. Also, this Sonata is less complex than the Civic is (which by the way, the Sonata's taillights look a lot like them). Also, I didn't say simple is always good at all. I only said that the Mazda6 uses a simple design, and it works with the design well.
Well, if it works design-wise means using the same depressed grille as every other Hyundai as of now does, then okay.
I can do worse, cup holders that are too small for current beverage containers. Most medium-large cups don't fit very well in the center console of the bronco although it is also probably the crappiest part on the whole vehicle since it is a single large piece of plastic with edges that are still sharp 30 years later with a hollow plastic lid, still thick enough I can climb on it though so at least its sturdy. cheap but sturdy
My Escort has the same problem, too shallow to hold a bottle properly and too small-diameter to fit some beverage containers. Fast-food drinks usually fit, glass soda bottles fit (but fall out if I accelerate or corner aggressively), plastic ones may or may not fit but I haven't tried recently, anything bigger won't, and if it's tall enough then it experiences a space-time continuum conflict with the (ill-fitting aftermarket) radio. A lot of gas stations around here sell really cheap bottled water, but it comes in ridiculously fat bottles so I can't drink it on the go. Some also only sell the fat bottles of Dasani too. Extremely annoying, it is. At least they're better than the Sunbird's, which were in the door pocket and basically useless due to the fact they were all of a couple millimeters deep if that.
At least you guys have them. There isn’t anywhere even REMOTELY convenient in the 528i. The shelf on top of the glovebox is insanely slippery. I end up wedging bottles between the seat and the transmission tunnel most of the time. The interior is really great apart from that.
In my Volkswagen I could fit a cup snugly between the seat and handbrake where it wouldn't go anywhere, but the Subaru has nothing (except for the glorious cup table obviously). It's really inconvenient for long drives.
So saying it looks nice and admitting to liking it = OMG ITSA JESUS!!! I wasn't using praising it like it was Jesus when I said it looked elegant.
My '97 Yukon is a top-trim SLT model, it has pretty much every option. Among the many other luxuries of that configuration are 7 cupholders. They will all fit large fast food cups easily and securely, besides one that slides out of the dash that is too shallow. That one isn't good for much. And one on the center console is stupidly designed so smaller cups and bottles fall over.
Well if it did the cupholders would be square like they are in my 89 Suburban. I guess GM likes trying to fit round things in square holes, hence the reason they continue to make square wheel wells.
