Is there any plans for BeamNG to make another game? Like, perhaps, a BeamNG.fly or BeamNG.sail? Or something totally different? Imagine realistic plane crashes, or replicating the Titanic's unfortunate crash? Would you want another game? What are your ideas?

BeamNG already has aircraft and boats as mods. Why would they make a whole different game when this one supports it. That would take a whole other team of developers, a ton of money, and basically remake another engine. So best answer is the devs won’t be working on anything else other than this.

Mods. That's the new game. Also, you still technically Drive Airplanes and ships, so really, BeamNG encapsulates anything that has some type of engine.

There is like one boat that actually works, and a few aircraft that are very difficult to fly. It would be a chance to get more communities, more money, and better physics for both of those things, however I agree, there probably won't be any games made for planes and boats, those were just my ideas.

I see what OP is getting at here, i think that a good idea would be to maybe have the same game engine etc, but have a cheap version that only allows you to use one car, for example Laminar made a Bloodhound SSC simulator, which was blatantly X-Plane 9 looked identical in every way, except you could only use the bloodhound car, and the app was like $2 or something, compared to XP9 which was like 6.

This way the BeamNG team can have it as a kind of trial, say a new car comes out that is revolutionary, the devs could add it to the game, and sell a version of the game that has that car at a discount, and then that game could end up turning wildly popular, which would mean more people have experienced BeamNG's physics, which will increase knowledge of the more expensive game.

Although there is licensing issues :( maybe the BeamNG team could team up with manufacturers who have trending cars, imagine a tesla roadster simulator by BeamNG!

...But, would BeamNG really have enough money to ask for licenses? I severely doubt that would ever happen anyway.

They had a partnership with Audi once. Not sure if they still do but....

Would doing something similar to car mechanic simulator help bring more content to beamng?
Or even X-Plane 11 for planes if beamng ever goes there.
    Dlc irl vehicles.
Only downside is beam would be full of dlc stuff.

why would you need an entire different game when you can do all that stuff in the game currently.

That was just for AI/autonomous car research, nothing to do with the game dev part of the company.

IIRC they said cars and trucks only for BeamNG.Drive. I hope some day they make some sorta boat game. Very few good one out there. Memories are returning of the sailing sims we used in high school deteriorating into sail boat demolition derbies*

OT: Being a game dev company, I assume they will have another project someday. Very few development companies that I know of indefinitely continue to work on one project. Even the studios with flagship games usually have smaller titles. BeamNG seems to be doing well enough for finances and they have at least one technology contract (the AI stuff that they assigned one and a half employees to) so I can’t see them having another project anytime soon, but I’m sure someday they will decide they can make something better with the knowledge they gained from their first project.

I recall the devs saying that some things wont make it into BeamNG but rather a successor, so something will probably show up.

Interesting... Perhaps with that UI revamp they are doing they might change the engine to get new graphics, new physics, career mode, all into some sort of BeamNG.drive 2? That'd be pretty awesome.

Oh my God for the last time, BeamNG is staying on Torque3D. Nothing else. That would be 6 whole years of work gone down the drain. Just because there’s only one boat and a few planes in BeamNG doesn’t mean that they should waste money on a whole different game. That’s what modders are for, there are just very few that can make planes and boats work.
Sorry if I’m coming off a bit rude, I’m having a frustrating morning.

He’s talking about them starting a second project, not an engine swap for the current game.

I’m not sure about his logic getting to the BeamNG.Drive 2.0 part, but hypothetically if it were to happen the only way to justify it would be a new engine.

You kind of missed the point, we were discussing what the devs said earlier, about future versions of the game, about how some things wont make it into BeamNG.Drive but maybe a future version, if you read my earlier comment. Not wanting BeamNG.Drive to be anything else, but rather what could come in the future. Im guessing Xelerate means updating more in the BeamNG/Torque3D engine, not changing to another engine.

yeah but at the same time, it can't stay on T3D forever, they will have to switch at some point, just not for a good few years.
