I wonder when we're going to get proper tire physics, I saw a video of a guy who is pretty experienced in sim racing, yet he couldn't go around the Nurburgring on BeamNG because of BeamNG.Understeer. Compared to Assetto Corsa, I could complete the ring in around 8 minutes, but on BeamNG, I wouldn't even get to finish.
These are (almost) proper physics. Sim racing often uses "arcade-y" physics, which are less realistic but arguably more fun. So, I would wager that it is your expectations, not the physics, that are the issue. Plus, the Nurburgring map is almost two years old - the ground model has likely improved since then.
although it is hard to notice, i dont think the tire physics are really fully finished yet. but the main problem with beam's driving feel is it's inconsistent ffb, and how you need perfect fps to get accurate results
If understeer is a problem, it can be also aero. Games like AC exaggerate understeer effects for example. Technically they have until Wed 31.10 to release update as Halloween day is then, but commonly it is celebrated at last weekend of October, or then it is when locals get horrible intoxicated and it is better to stay in coffin, erm. I mean bed. So one has to be excited for that long
You should take in account there's no tyre wear or temp, but other than this i find it's pretty realistic. And there's a proof you can do it under 8 min in BeamNG:
BeamNG does have issues with handling and understeer, it is impossible to go around a racetrack and the video is enough proof. Do your own research. Assetto Corsa's driving physics are FAR more advanced and better than BeamNG's driving physics.
Its the tyres themselves that are the issue, no matter how much tuning and work you put into them they are still 3 sided blocks. Its pretty amazing how far they have managed to get them, but until the way they are made changes, they will never be perfect. They essentially look like this, so its pretty obvious why they will never be quite right. This isn't to say they are bad either, they are really quite good so far.
A E R O, that is where you get car to handle or not, aero is huge thing in BeamNG, it's effect is so strong that I find it more important than nuances in tires.
I was questioning why they would have an achievement that would only be available for about 3 weeks, not if I was reading that correctly. Edit: the posts on this page are popcorn worthy
Am I the only one who feels that Halloween 2018 will basically be a mix of Halloween and Christmas 2017? I highly suspect the original halloween mod's content returning (TOD + Extras), but with support for WCA and the Automation Test Track, plus scarecrows to collect just like the christmas update?
Beamng's tire model takes the speed into account, which I don't think most other games do. https://blog.beamng.com/a-look-at-tire-development-in-beamng-part-1/ https://blog.beamng.com/a-look-at-tire-development-in-beamng-part-2/
You are forgetting that there is content planned for this update, like the new Gavril V8. Plus, @Nadeox1 specifically said it would not just be a collect-a-thon minigame.
Well, most street cars are designed to understeer, roll. the car understeer because full throttle or full brake, bad suspension setup for the track.
Yes, I had a feeling there was a fallacy in there somewhere... Anyway, does this mean that BeamNG's next update will actually be the release of Half-Life 3? There is a BeamNG staff member named Gabe, and the logo has three nodes in it. Big if true!
So you are saying that because one guy doesn't manage to lap a non official map it's simply not possible, despite a video showing the opposite just a few posts below yours? Not quite sure what reasoning behind this is...
