This mod is going to be based off of a 1982 Chevy Suburban. This is EXTREMELY WIP, and will take a LONG TIME to be completed, as this is my first mod. There isn't much progress as of right now, though I figured it would be nice to be able to get a thread started, to gain feedback, and maybe reach out for help. Progress: Model- WIP Jbeam-Not started, still learning Configs- Not started, planning. Config plans: -Sherrif: Larger engine, different transmission, ram bar(custom made) AWD - Stock: i6 motor, manual trans, steel wheels RWD - Sport: Different suspension, rims, super charged motor, AWD - Traverse(off-road): lifted suspension, all terrain tires, AWD/4-Lock, high/low, off-road attachments(bumpers, roof rack, UPDATE 10-24-18: Restarting the model! Thanks to @Applenapslap 2 for the helpful blueprint, as this will make the model much more accurate and clean. Will post progress as it comes. Credits: Keys: Model Dean Wang: Suspension Work
Thanks, Im going to try to work as much as I can getting the model done, when it comes to drivetrain and suspension, I may have to reach out to people and have them help me, cause im not going to model my own, and I don't know how to port official ones in/scale them to fit.
Yeah, this is the first thim im making ever in blender, so its not gonna be great, but im going to try to make it a functional mod.
We also need more hatchbacks it seems. --- Post updated --- Which is where I am sort of helping that class by making my first mod. --- Post updated --- It also seems like we had the same idea for a model year, because I am making a replica of a 1982 Chevy Citation, and you want to make this a 1982 Chevy Suburban.
That's pretty cool. Good luck with your mod! I know for a fact that jbeaming is where its gonna take me a while, cause I don't know what, where, or how to do it.
Thanks and you too! --- Post updated --- My car will be called the Gavril Sentry, and I have a thread for it. You can check it out if you want.
Also, I think im gonna make it a bit differently than a suburban, theres not going to be any body frame up front. Its gonna be more like the moon hawk, where its the normal frame, and then radiator support, and then the fenders, fascia, and hood all mount to the radiator and the body.
I recommend that you practice doing jbeam for that frame before you continue to actual model, it will help then later on planning things, when you understand better jbeam etc.
Yeah that prob wouldn't be a bad idea, the problem is, I don't know what program to use, and how to get it into the game. --- Post updated --- So I found a picture that should help with proper modeling. --- Post updated --- ive also realized, the frame isn't proper shape, it's supposed to raise up sooner on the rear and be longer.
From here, how to correctly import / export vehicles, but check out other ones too, there is no really direct answer to that, you need to study how things work and then adapt that, but simple vehicle tutorial has good pointers too: https://www.beamng.com/threads/tutorials-index-list-of-useful-guides.51454/
As I said before; you might want to try doing something smaller and simple just to understand how things work. Something like a box, a traffic cone or something like that. Make a jbeam for it, and suddenly you know a lot more basics It'll be easier for you, than to begin with a whole car.
Exactly like that, it is so many times we have seen new modder starting with a car and it is so huge tasks it gets overwhelming quick, I'm not any better in this actually. That is also why I suggest jbeaming the frame first, to learn how to get it to game and frame can work as a prop as frames are put to trailer and taken to sandblasting etc. So, that might be actually quite good first step, then climbing further steps as building vehicle more, that way it is much easier to get whole vehicle done and not to give up because it becomes huge mountain to take on at once. There are some bits of information I have written to others that might also be useful in figuring out how to get thing in game: https://www.beamng.com/threads/generic-shopping-cart.52762/#post-807754 https://www.beamng.com/threads/content-creation-and-import.55577/#post-881111
