I was actually thinking about mounting a legran V6 in it, but I kinda forgot how heavy the thing was. Transverse mounted V8 is still an option so is leaving it longitudinally and just routing the power back to front diff via modified 4WD transfercase with no hi/low range. Since I am leaning towards using a solid axle in the front, using transverse mount would be kinda pointless. Also it isn't quite OEM style mod, more of a conversion to an existing Chasis cab, so swapping the engine would be additional expense. If I'd be going brand new Van, I'd go transverse mounted fwd for the whole range except dually like most european vans do, but since I am sticking with just an H-series, the V8 might stay as it is.
I know it was a horrible pun, but I thought it was irresistible. Yeah, for some reason Pontiac grilles came to my mind before the EVO did.
