So i built a computer but there's a problem

    Meh im just sad because its gonna be 2 weeks before i get the mobo back (estimate on site) its funny a random person on a forum says they can fix it and a person with 15yrs experience cant wow this is Screwed up x10000000000000000

    The store can't fix it because it won't necessarily work. Personally, I've fixed bent pins on processors and on sockets and never had any issues.

    CPUs are delicate, I myself have never bent a pin before (come on, these are zif sockets, they need no force for insertion or removal and it only fits one way??). If one does bend it can sometimes be straightened but if you have tried powering the machine on (which you have, and you weren't to know that the pin was bent so don't blame yourself too much if this happens) sometimes it can cause a short which will destroy the entire CPU. Alternately you might straighten the pin and find its absolutely fine.


    Tell a lie, I snapped a pin clean off an MSP430G2553IN20. But that is a cheap 16 bit microcontroller in a 20 pin inline package and was most certainly not ZIF socketed :p its now soldered to a PCB where it still works just fine.

    Had this issue after I cleaned out my comp once. Make sure the motherboards power cord is plugged in.

    Well then obviously you did something wrong, or far more unlikely is that it came bent, which I've never heard of happening.

    I have great news everyone after messing with the pins with at toothpick i was able to get the computer to boot to the bios right now im installing windows 7 :eek::);):rolleyes:

    !!!!!!!!!:) Thanks to everyone who told me to bend the pin back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
