Remember sitting in the IRC chat and buying it instantly as it released (took a while to download as the servers were overloaded). 639 hours and countless pre-steam ones too. Also played a lot of RoR. Congrats on the release of a successful game, guys.
This may sound a bit weird & extreme, but I want to friendly-hug every dev from the BeamNG team, to show my appreciation for what they created
Happy 5th Birthday BeamNG. Without this game there's so much I wouldn't have learned. I can without a doubt say that it's the best game I've ever played.
Thats not fact though otherwise no one should mention your mods cause they weren't nice at all.... (jk jk ) Anyway personally don't see what all the hype is about, progress is snail paced, bugs still exist from first release 5 years that haven't been patched and the mod community consists of like 3 people(the real mod community not this minimum effort mesh slaps). Has beamng got potential? sure it does otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I do think the game needs a better structure, clear goals(no one knows what the devs want), a set release schedule and a overhaul of all the older systems in the game(UI, graphics, older vehicles, etc). Also think we should easily bee seeing a new vehicle 4 times a year with the skilled vehicle devs you have(one less vehicle if we expect the older content to get reworked). There's nothing in there I wouldn't tell my grandma so please no one cry wolf over some criticism.
The sad thing is that even though the game is growing, modding isn't. Modding nowadays is a mesh-slap, Automation port, or a config. Modding isn't easy but it's pretty disappointing that no new mods ever come out. And I just would like the community to just be less harsh. If you're going to criticize, make it constructive. If you dislike something, fine, just think that to yourself. Please be considerate of others and treat others how you would want to be treated
Yeah, but some other good modders have been inactive too (Bernd, etc.) But atleast we still have the Coronet
As my way of wishing BeamNG.drive a happy birthday, I'll share the story and the video where I believe my journey with BeamNG officially began. Afterwards at a time I done forgot, I downloaded a tech demo, which didn't work on the computer I was using at the time. It wasn't until I started using the one I'm using today that I was able to play the tech demo. Eventually I bought the game from Steam, and I've been playing it ever since. I remember trying two tech demos, one that used the Covet as the only car, the other using the D-Series.
I'm anticipating to see what the final product would be for the Camry (if I'm referring to the correct mod). We also have some good map modders as well that are still active.
I came here from JackSepticEye I will never regret clicking on that playlist and going, "What's BeamNG.drive?"
