Bristol, it has a very limited entry via the way from London (You come in from London via the M4 or low capacity country roads. The M4 also being the quickest way to get from London to Wales, it isn't common for there to be a traffic jam on the London - Swindon parts of the M4 but as you're approaching Bristol it becomes a nightmare. I didn't see London's traffic that bad, probably because I've never been there in 7 years --- Post updated --- Depends on where you book really. If you're going for a hotel in London, god bless you. If you're going for a place like Cornwall or Devon, a 7 night Caravan holiday at the Devon Cliffs Sandy Bay caravan site near Exmouth will set you off at around £1,000 If you're going for a place like Wales, it's extremely cheap there, but in Wales you get what you pay for really. In Scotland, if you're booking a hotel in the Cairngorms or atleast near them, expect wallet heavy prices.
Wales is lovely. Haven however, isn't, no matter which one you go to. If anyone is planning on visiting the UK, do it properly and stay outside of a holiday park (Pontins, Haven, Butlins). Since you could go to more or less any holiday park globally and get a very similar experience. So why bother travelling that far. Especially considering how ludicrously expensive they are. And frankly, a holiday park in Spain or Italy is probably gonna be a better bet. To be clear, they aren't a bad experience, there is plenty to do and have fun with in them, but it's not worth crossing a continent for. But of course it all depends on what sort of holiday. If you want to go camping, you can stay for a week for about £70, if you want to stay in a nice hotel, £700 for a week will do you fine. If you want to stay in a "Travellodge" / "Premier Inn" type place, that's around £400 for a week for a city location. For rural locations Holiday Cottages are a pretty great solution too, since you get a full "normal" countryside house for a week. If you want an outdoors holiday, Scotland or Wales are both equally excellent spots, lake district and peak district are also pretty cool. Went to the Isle of Mull last year and it was positively tropical, would recommend However, if anyone does visit, while you might enjoy tropical weather, you may also encounter "ice cream and gloves" weather, so bring a variety of clothes.
If any of you are planning a trip to Wiltshire, I'll give you some info, because I live there. 1. Don't visit the Stonehenge, it's complete shite and you can't even get that close to the stones. 2. Base your hotel in/around Swindon, the reason for this is because Swindon is the largest town in the county and there's lots to do there, such as a chav beating a rivethead's head in, and going to the Oasis Leisure centre. There's also a Premiere Inn, and a Travellodge, there's also quite a few restaurants and some sights there too. But don't be impressed by the sights, avoid the town centre at midnight and don't expect the place to be exceptionally pretty. 3. Don't feel as if you can't talk to the locals, the locals in Wiltshire, and the locals even in Swindon are relatively nice, you will come across some arseholes though but that's for everywhere. 4. Avoid Spittleborough Junction 16, separating the beautiful towns of Royal Wootton Bassett, and the not so beautiful town of Swindon is the Spittleborough '16, which is the 16th Junction on the M4, and connects the A3102 "Swindon Rd." to the same road but titled "Great Western Way", and then there's Hay Lane which connects onto Wroughton and so on, the reason why you should avoid this roundabout is because it's an extremely complex Oval Junction with the M4 going under an oval shaped roundabout, this road oftenly clogs up and leaves you sitting for 15 minutes in traffic, instead take Hook Way going north of Basset and it'll eventually lead you to the village of Hook where you should make a right. 5. There are no speed cameras in the Borough of Swindon, feel free to speed on a country road but avoid the M4 because the police camp out behind billboards and sliproads. (Don't speed at all kids) 6. Are there good links to Wiltshire?, Yes, there are, almost every town and it's sister town has a train station in Wiltshire, and as long as you aren't going on a train operated by GWR it should be relatively cheap. 7. Does Wiltshire border the sea?, No, it doesn't. 8. Does Wiltshire have any beaches?, Yes, it does, do your own research, I can't remember where the beach is. 9. Is Wiltshire a warm place?, Technically, during the summer temperatures will averagely be around 20 degrees (Celsius) and during hot summers you'll need to grab an icecream, also, don't worry, it's extremely hard to get a sunburn in Wiltshire
You'll rarely come across them but they are here. All they are is annoying, and all their purpose is, is to be eaten by grasshoppers.
The mosquitoes are fine, its the midges that you need to worry about, at certain times of year and in certain locations they can be vicious. If you plan on visiting any lakes, especially in Scotland, make sure to spray yourself with some fly repellent. Source: I cam home with over 23 midge bites a few days ago and still feeling a tad itchy from them (Lanacane is my new best friend)... One of those >23 bites the day after I was bitten...(for scale the swelling is about 3cm(1 inch) wide)
You never see them but always get bitten from may-sep, some people attract more than others. I get bit a lot!

We have a secret nuclear bunker in Kelvedon... did i mention it was a secret?? Well it's a tour open for the public (not free), and it is very interesting, and honestly i feel like i know how to prepare for nuclear war now It's an interesting place, with airconditioning ducts that take up whole ceilings and massive vents, making it look quite spooky. Apparently it can still be put back into service if necessary. But it's not exactly secret anymore.
Most restaurants are fine, pubs (which would often come under the name Arkell's Arms or something), any high street restaurants too. +Wetherspoons
