BarmyPark submitted a new resource: Barstow Wagon - got a family? want a barstow? there ya go! Read more about this resource...
If you continue this project I believe it can become something, the crashes aren`t spiking all over the place, only it does need a visible trunk, and some rendering work. Looking forward to furture updates.
it could be a good start if you give it proper UV maps and fix the mesh a bit... i wouldnt mind helping with it
More like WIP mod --- Post updated --- Plus.... .Got a family? Get the 4 doors wagon not 2 That would be easier if u have kids
Sooo... You've slapped the model of the pickup's Cap on your Ute mod, and then just added basic Jbeam to it? It does not fit one bit with the style of the vehicle, it needs a lot of work. What you have now is a good start, but if this took you 2 weeks, then making it decent will take you at least 2 months. Right now it is just bad.
Older wagons (when shooting brakes were a different term) did have 2-door versions, or were mainly 2 doors. But I do agree that the vehicle needs some reworking. Plus, it doesn't feel like a 60s-70s wagon if plenty of proportions are off.
Not a bad mod, yet not good either. I’ve seen great improvements yet still rushing out mods is a really bad habit. All this needs is a texture fix and resolving a missing mesh. Btw I think that this shouldn’t had to be it’s own separate mod since it’s more of a modification to the Ute mod.
This situation with the car seems to be this: good idea, bad execution . A estate of sport vehicles sounds like a nice idea, and one with the Barstow sounds like a interesting idea. But the execution is poor, especially with proportions (and the fact that there's no trunk!) and the simplistic J-beam. Also, 2 weeks would never equal finished product, especially that good mods often take months, or even years. (Unless it's something simple, like a small amount of skins, or a basic prop. It could take longer or shorter as a estimate, though that depends on work ethic.)
Plus, another big issue is design anatomy. A good example to make a proper Barstow estate is base it off the Pinto wagon: As you can see, the windows are properly set-up, the very rear of the roof has a notable slant, and the roof is pretty straight. I don't see much of these proper details in this mod. If it wants to feel like a wagon around it's era, it should atleast have details from real wagons around the era and take some inspiration from them to make the mod atleast decent, or good.
Yeah. Plus I think the approval system needs to be a tad bit more stricter. Like you have to fill certain requirements before it can even be approved. Because this mod (and many others by Barmy) shouldn’t even been accepted in the first place unless he puts more effort into making mods. This mod can be improved, but due to his track record of uploading mods and never even touching it again seems like he needs some more practice if he thinks that he doesn’t need to fix or update mods for future versions of the game. All I’m saying is that Barmy has the ideas that he has, yet a lot more effort needs to be made.
If I were to ever mod (which I already plan to in the far future), I'd put as much effort as I can, along with some support, to make a good mod. But to continue the subject, I do think that his mods need some reworking. This is one of the mods I want remodeled, due to the incorrect anatomy and improper texture (plus the missing mesh, which is a big no when it comes to modding).
Missing meshes are usually related to a typo in the jbeam file. Which is why I said that fixing it wouldn’t take that long anyways.
