Scraped / Scratched Car Effect?

    I thought it could be cool if when you scrape your vehicle against a wall or another car, it had a scrape sound and you could see the scrape on the side. Pretty simple, just don't know how they would do it. It would be cool is the scrape could be unique to the scrape you made. Also, it shouldn't just be a able to scrape on the sides, it should be all over, even the roof, for if you slide.

    As far as I am aware its not possible to do scrapes in the bodywork and as for Mud effects on the side of the cars thats also not possible either its something to do with the way the game renders the vehicles....

    If I am wrong feel free to correct me if I am incorrect in what I have stated here

    I think you are correct, but I feel maybe there could even be a way to make it so when you scrape your vehicle, maybe it could put a scrape imagey thing? I dunno. :p

    I doubt it sadly its adding in additional layers or something I dont understand it fully myself but best to ask one of the people in the know about it than me, all I do is modify core game files to add in additional units and stuff and also do a lot of driving at high speed and crash stuff for fun

    Its very much possible, its just not something that is planned soon. It'll probably come eventually though.

    The better sound mod adds a scrape sound, but no texture.

    did this once...


    it was using the deformgroup material switch thing on the bodyparts. wich was kinda buggy since the textures are triggered by deformation instead of contact.
    means a small jump causing small body deformations would make the textures switch without having contact to anything.
    maybe increasing the "deformationTriggerRatio" would help but i havent tested it yet.

    Oldsfullsize has a similiar option. it was the poorly restored version, which revealed rust underneath the paint.

    i think this might be a question for the beamng devs and not the modding community, thought either one could do it, itll be better if the whole game came stock with this feature

    If Ghost can do this, then it has to be somewhat easy for the devs to do so. I bet they can make this much more complex and work better, but it may still have to be universal with mods, unless they can release some type of coding, then it could be official only for a while--but that's still if...

    Devs considered it, but dropped it from the list, so it will not come, unless they have changed their mind over that. Update speculation thread has information, I think it was Nadeox that posted it, finding might take quite bit of time.
