Panther bodies are basically the Volvo squarebody wagon of the United states. Might as well be made from tungsten. Last good car ford made, before they started putting unreliable Ecoboosts in cars and made trucks out of expensive aluminum that makes any crash total it out...
Audi, I guess... We've had a BMW and it was hell on wheels, now we have an Audi, let's see how it will be.
I can't really say I'm too surprised, but maybe I should be. I've done some mean things to these cars and they just take it. I think the wheels did a decent job of soaking up some of the energy though. It's a shame. Those tires didn't have a whole lot of wear on them. That rusty ass wheel had to go though. Oh well.
some idiot drilled holes through an aluminum panel on the dash of the bronco and it is proving to be quite difficult to find the right piece because mine is XLT woodgrain with a rear window defroster and I can only find the woodgrain one without the defroster or no woodgrain with the defroster plus they hacked in a cheap stereo that has to go because the speakers that replaced the rear ashtrays are destroyed (I found the ash trays in the center console)and the ones in the factory location in the rear do not fit in the speaker hole so I can't put a grille on it to make it look nice. some interesting things I found are a F250 emblem in the center console, the center console and glovebox have broken locks or are from another truck because I do not have a key that locks them(it doesn't turn), the lock on the driver side door is broken/ jammed most likely from a very large dent in the door, the driver side window is the only tinted window and the tailgate is from another truck and the aluminum trim panel on it is from a pickup, not a bronco because the pickups have a smoked reflector bar on the bottom and the bronco has a red reflector bar.
Honestly, I hate when this happens to vehicles. of any sort. This sounds like what I got from my '91 Chevy Blazer. Previous owner said they used it as a muddin' truck. Exhaust was cut at the Y-pipe. Big hole in the floor from when they hit something with it. Left front side of Radiator support, front bumper and front left fender have all been smashed it, was a big pain in the rear to disassemble. A/C condensing core is completely destroyed... The vehicles entire electrical system doesn't work. Basically what I got for only paying $300... Almost forgot about the "custom" camo paint job that is basically as rough as sand paper.(Pics in a different post as I don't have them on this machine.)
How so? I know it can't be safer for anyone trying to recover people from an accident since aluminum usually tears and makes sharper edges than steel.
Energy and impulse. If the car doesn't deform then the occupants will have to deal with more energy over a shorter time. Also, if you have to worry about sharp metal in the drivers compartment, you probably have a lot more on your mind than how your car managed. Pretty sure that isn't supposed to happen regardless of the metal used. --- Post updated --- Define "commuter car"... I wouldn't mind driving to the super market in an M939.
Aren't there diesels that would do just fine? I've heard they can be good on MPG, though I doubt this applies to all of them, especially the ones designed to roll coal. You'll obviously have to fork out more $s at the pump though.
I meant sharp metal on the outside if first responders have to try to remove people from a wreck. I would imagine the frame and material thickness have a lot more to do with how a car crumples in an accident than the material used. No diesel is designed to roll coal at least not from the factory. --- Post updated --- Why not? They're reliable and fuel efficient, and as long as the US doesn't follow in the footsteps of other countries and ban diesels (which I doubt will happen) it would last a long time.
I knew that. I brought that up because some people like to do modifications to make their vehicles do that, and I'm sure that reduces the vehicles fuel economy. And I doubt manufacturers would produce such vehicles, since I believe rolling coal is a banned practice in some areas.
I figured that was what you meant, just didn't really come across the way you wrote it. I don't think there are many diesel cars that are going to be modified to roll coal, that's more of a truck thing. Regardless you wouldn't want to buy a vehicle modded like that since it probably means it hasn't been taken care of properly. All of the trucks around here that blow ridiculous amounts of black smoke are actually poorly maintained pieces of shit, despite how cool the owners think they are.
