    Hello,
I have began working on a gabeverse-friendly SUV, based almost entirely off of the 1984-1996 Jeep Cherokee of the XJ generation (of which I have a 2000 facelifted version sitting in my driveway :)) called the Ibishu Blackfoot. It's called the Blackfoot since the Cherokee was named after a native American tribe, and Blackfoot was another one of these tribes.

As you can imagine, it will use many slightly altered parts off of the Hopper since the real-life Wrangler TJ used so many parts off of the XJ. The drivetrain, powertrain and even parts of the chassis will be used and changed accordingly to fit.

I will be modelling this car from scratch, with no model to base it off of, although I do have pretty good reference images to model from (missing a top down view, but it doesn't matter much :p). Yes I know that old Russian XJ exists, but this has nothing to do with that. And besides, this is technically a different car ;)

I'm quite competent with scripting, and am getting to grips with the vehicle scripts from the wiki with some success. I'm also not bad in Blender either, having been able to get the JBeam plugin working on an older 2.71 build that I'll be using to model this car.

I will start with the 4-door, and possibly add the 2-door at a later stage (as there aren't any blueprints that I can find of it at the moment).

I'll be changing the grill from the 7/8 slat one that the real Cherokee has, not only because of the theme set by the Hopper (which has many horizontal fins) but also since I'm pretty sure that that grill design is a Jeep trademark, and I want this mod to be repository-friendly.

I am also considering making a 1997-2001 facelifted version in future, which would be quite fitting as I've got that 2000 4.0 Orvis outside, which I can gather a lot of information and detail from as you can imagine (including some engine sounds if need be, although the Hopper ones are quite decent anyway)

I've got a 2-week holiday ahead of me, with nothing planned past Monday, so I've got a good deal of time to get this started. It won't be quick as I'm no expert, and I've never made a full vehicle mod for BeamNG before, but more of a long-term learning process.

I'll be posting updates as I make progress. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome - and before you ask, yes, I'll be adding a bunch of aftermarket parts too (lifts, guards, lighting etc):D

I like the idea, but I think you should of waited until you had some progress to post the thread.

A beater version would be really cool, as well as a Gavril 5.5 swap.

I agree that I should have posted some progress before posting, but I wanted to get my idea out to begin with. I'm about to start modelling the car, and it has a directory in Beam, showing with a config and some colours that I've scripted in.
I have gotten the Hopper model into Blender and have stripped it down the the chassis, where most of the parts I'll be needing are.

What exactly is this going to look like though? (is there a real-life car that inspires this?)

Not sure if you read the first post correctly, but it'll be modelled around the 1984-1996 pre-facelift Jeep Cherokee. This allows me to kill two birds with one stone and show some images of the blueprints that I've got scaled, which will give you an idea of what it'll look like.
The top one takes some guess work, as it's from a different blueprint set. But I can make it work, it's not the end of the world. Also it's better than nothing :p
Yes actually. I was thinking of making a Wagoneer-style Blackfoot (with a different but fitting name of course) as I think it'd be pretty neat.

as said in the very first post, its Based On a 1984-1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ (grill is different for copywrite and to match the hopper style)

you sir are now my favorite person. the Jeep Wagoneer is one of my dream cars! are you thinking of the 60s, 70s or 80s style? (id assume 80s, to match the styling)

also, if you decide to make a pickup of the Wagoneer-Blackfoot, you could possible call it the B-10 or the I-10, as they were called J-10s (J = jeep, B = Blackfoot, and I = ibishu?)

Since it's the XJ, it'd be the 1983-1990 Wagoneer, although I may consider doing the SJ later down the line. I think that would fit better as a Bruckell or a Burnside since it's more of an earlier luxury style of SUV. But since the Miramar exists, I may keep it as an Ibishu.

If I do this, then I'd do both the regular chromed grill and the stubby one with 4 headlights.

I've began modelling now that I've got all the prints set where I need them. I've been having a few little breaks watching something on television for a bit, but it's finished now, so I can get to work.

Imagine this thing when it's done plus hog0005's supercrawl mod, or JackLumba's Hopper mod. That would be sick. But I look forward to having more SUV's in beamng. Maybe opening tailgate like in Gavril T85's roamer mod? Okay I'm out of suggestions.

hey, i just realized, i think the 84' XJ had leaf spring rear...

    Yep... (wikipedia)
    Suspension[edit]
The Jeep XJ utilizes a coil spring with a separate shock absorber front suspension and a leaf spring with a separate shock absorber rear suspension.

any plans for leaf sprun xj, id assume not, for continuity between the hopper and the Blackfoot, but just asking :p

Ineed it does. In fact, even my 2000 XJ does. They kept coilover-style shocks at the front for better ride quality and handling. In the back, there are leaf springs with shocks attached in the same system.
The Hopper has this same setup, even down to similar stabiliser bars in the front axle. So I'll be using this, since it's so similar, and it's an Ibishu part.
Don't worry, I won't be abandoning this thing any time soon! :p
