There is little difference between a minivan and a family crossover.

    About the Pacifica...

They just chose to drop the "Town & Country" name for something with a nicer, more suggestive and modern ring to it.

They had the unused "Pacifica" name available and reused it. Smart move, IMO, as "Town & Country" evokes images of old people on a boring brick-like minivan with beige interior and outmoded vinyl-wood trim on its sides.

In most export markets, the T&C was known as the "Voyager" even if it carried the Chrysler badge (and, for three generations, the Dodge grille...) right because the "T&C" designation was deemed boring and outdated.

What about them? The Pacifica is as american as it gets: so immense that they wisely chose not to export it...

It was a joke, you described the old Town and country and how suburban/murican/american dream/etc it can get. So i responded like a septuagenarian.

    Yeah...
except that those cars don't even look that similar at all, with all the different styling and shapes Chrysler gave it.

I'm saying that the Pacifica minvan is not exactly an new Town & Country, rather it was an revival of the Chrysler minivan platform. Also, the real relation to the 2017 Pacifica is the 2015 200, which explains some similarities, especially the copied fascia design.

In other words, a new Town&Country.

Well, I don't get why not name it completely different, just like the Sebring - 200, or atleast have an relation to the original, just like the Acura RL/TL - TLX/RLX? It seems weird, since atleast with the Eclipse Cross, the car and the Eclipse were both compact vehicles.

    Just because.

Also, you seem to be overthinking car names.

OT, because I feel like this argument needs to be disclosed right now and it should be it's own discussion:

How to make an transition of an luxury sedan to an new generation look good.

This argument should have been disclosed a while ago but you have failed to realize that you’re wrong, and aren’t making much sense.

OT: Doug DeMuro has inspired me to realize that the CL was an amazing car. Went through a great facelift in its last generation (before they redid it and just called it the S-Class coupe).

    "aren't making much sense"?
I was pretty clear, I said that they revived the platform, not just specifically the T&C
    OT:

It looked better than the prototype.

You must not speak English as your first language. That sentence made perfect sense.

    ...
INCORRECT. Sorry, but it's obvious that I'm English.
Also, the Pacifica is an new car, not an new generation. Doesn't matter with the name, it's not an new generation if it doesn't share ALL traits that make an new generation or facelift.
