    Wreckfest Players of BeamNG

Since we don't have an actual thread for those of us who play Wreckfest on here, I figured I'd go ahead and create one.
As Bugbear just released a blog where they mention improvements to online play and connectivity, what better time than now to have some good old-fashioned derby races with each other? Or maybe just chat about Wreckfest here in this thread, instead of creating new ones.

Perhaps, if enough interest is generated, we could even have some tourneys or something of the like.

    Regardless, Wreckfest thread here :D

Interesting how the company calls themselves Bugbear. I'm bugged by the fact Wreckfest has the kind of cars BeamNG currently lacks, like Swedish and British cars, with an unplayable background French car.

I'm probably not the best person to join in on a Wreckfest discussion, because lately I've been displeased with what I've been hearing, as I don't like the idea of it leaving BeamNG in the dust. So I'm saying no more.

Wreckfest is great....as long as you don't play the borig, repetetive and way too easy "campaign" I guess it is an Early Access game after all...

One thing that Wreckfest lacks is some kind of terraforming ands what I mean by that is that vehicles should be able to leave behind (deep) tracks in the dirt which affect the other vehicles like in Sega Rallye on the PS3 or something. That feature would really add alot to demo derbies.

Or you could just, you know, enjoy both games and not have a care in the world.

    Hi =P
Most of us have just been using Yellowrusty's thread as a discussion, I guess it's time for a proper thread.

Anyone have any advice for the Hammerhead? I'm stuck on the class B estate races because I cannot get the hang of that thing and I don't want to buy the warwagon if I don't have to.

There's still a number of Flatout tracks I would love to see in Wreckfest. Nice that we have crash alley at least. I didn't care for it in Flatout but I love it in Wreckfest. What are people's opinion of the speedbowl? It seems that people either love or hate that track. That was my favorite Flatout 2 track.

Are you using any driving assists? I'm assuming you aren't.
I pretty much main the Hammerhead and I'll tell you that it is pretty much impossible to keep it solid on the ground around turns. Downshift, peg the rev limiter, and slide around turns. Left off the gas for a second, then straighten out and mash the gas. I run limited-slip differential, side protectors, and one-notch shy of stiff suspension. If you upgrade the engine to 219hp and run the heavy front bumper you can usually push people out of the way at the start of the race. The biggest flaw with the Hammerhead is the rear end: no traction, and an easy target for PITing.

I'm currently playing Wreckfest alot and enjoying it finally. It's obvious there is momentum in getting the game better.
There are so many things that still need attention (for my liking anyway). The general physics with mass and collisions
could be better and I hope they continue to work on that. Deformation is what I would consider "godlike", for 1998. While
nice in it's own respect I can't help but to think they can do better and more realistic deformation with whatever scheme they are using.
And then there is the sounds, oh god the sounds. Anyway, I'm thrilled that at least there is some seriously good, fun, halfway realistic
Figure-8 action to be had here. Oh, did I mention the atrocious replay camera positioning?.....

Graphics wise I have to say on a 1950X/1080ti....pretty, very pretty.

I hope against hope Wreckfest becomes the game I dream of and for the first time in my history I feel compelled to go online with it:cool:.

Wreckfest March update is out. 2 new cars, no idea what they are since I don't see a pic on the changelog and won't be home to see myself for another 5 hours =(

Edit: The AI is still unusually difficult on some courses and novice AI difficulty is no longer like a zen mode banger race, which makes me sad. I enjoyed turning the AI on novice, turning my brain off, and just smashing into all of the opponents constantly and still winning; zen banger racing. Expert AI difficulty seems way easier now. Haven't actually played normal difficulty yet.

Lol well after playing the new update now I want expert+ AI. I got used to the old expert AI, new expert AI is a walk in park comparatively. ;)

I used to play a ton of Wreckfest. have about 1,200 or 1,300 hours on it. Have nailed several top 10 world leaderboard times even towards the end of a patch/reset of the leaderboard. Got to say that the game had gotten stupid easy to keep a car under control last I checked. It used to be like riding on the edge of a cliff at every turn and even some of the straights. Then it became just "Don't worry m8, we will never let you spin out, even with all sensitives turned up and no assists on." (Which I never have used assists in the game).

Thoughts on that? Might be 2 updates ago now, but they just took a lot of fun out of it for me with the update where they added all the cars. Everything lost it's oversteering god-like-ness and became understeering boringness.

Also, how are you not bored to tears with singleplayer? Multiplayer is all that I've really ever played on that game, and all of my lap records were definitely gotten in multiplayer haha. I didn't sit there to try and get an achievement or anything. (Not to brag, just flexing the Epeen that is deflated and no longer relevant)

Have you tried the Bulldog? If you want a car that drives you more than you drive it, that is.
Arguably the twitchiest car still. They changed it slightly in the update, but if you play with the same driving setup I do the Bulldog is literally only viable on the oval tracks.
    ---------
In other news, the C10 Blazer/MudDigger/WhyDidn'tBugbearNameItTheBlasterXL is... kinda bad imo. I tried like 10 races on/offline and it just doesn't have any acceleration or speed. Not only that, but god help you if someone nudges your back-corner because you're going sideways whether you want to or not. Despite having high ground clearance it goes over bumps like a rolling cinder block. I won 3 races with it and even then it was only by brake checking everyone who tried to overtake me.

The Rocket is pretty much the same as the Gatecrasher. It hauls on the straights but takes turning as a mere suggestion. Gets very unhappy if you downshift to quickly.

Also, is it just me or is realistic damage way more fatal now? The Blazer was done in by 3 hits in the figure 8 course and my Gremlin is reduced to ash if I look at it wrong. lol

I never thought the bulldog was difficult, it's prob my fav car at the moment.

Am I imagining it or was the firefly nerfed? It was completely OP last update, it feels like just another car now.

Yep, I think so. I can literally win every 15 (my preference), lap fig-8 race by just staying out of the way. The race then becomes nothing
but a survival slalom course through burning wreckage (looks damn cool though). On top of that almost every car is destroyed before any good intersection action
starts. They need the AI to be WAY more prudent with realistic damage.

Damage tweak is a bit better but godamnit they need to keep on it.

I can't figure out what they changed. Before, cars took damage much more incrementally and it was heavily dependent on where the impact took place. If you had a smashed front end and you hit it more, it'd take even more damage. Now it seems like cars just take damage evenly, while the damage that (visually) appears is dependent on where the impact was. I've played around with it for a few hours and with a maxed-out strength El Camino, it still dies in 3-4 solid hits even if the hits are all on different places.
I can't pinpoint how exactly it is different, but cars are seemingly taking damage in much weirder ways.
"Normal" damage seems almost ideal. "Realistic" damage almost seems like overkill now though, like it appears that the health of the car is completely separate from the drivetrain damage. On one hand you can have a completely crumpled car that still has 80% health but yet you can also have a car take half health from bottoming out. You can have a FWD car die from getting rear ended... with the engine still perfectly operable.
I agree with you on the AI thing too. Do you ever run into an AI that, for some reason, just doesn't turn when you're next to them? It seems like sometimes the AI are less concerned with winning and more concerned with forcefully guiding you into the nearest wall.

With a FFB Steering wheel my American 5 (Whatever it's called now) is a wrecking ball that can drift if you man-handle it enough. Tons of power, can't 100% throttle off the line or I take out half the racers along with myself :p

0 - 60 MPH in 3.4 Seconds and enough ramming force to flip any car in front of me over.

    Here's a video of it:

Yeah, at the time my internet was out for repair of speed issues, so I had to race against the wet blankets that are AI cars.

Don't be giving out my secrets! Lol, there was a track that I got #7 on the world leaderboard on by using that strat, but try to tell me that the others that were even close didn't lol.
