My company makes motion platforms, and we finally got around to hooking up BeamNG and destroying some cars. It hurts more than you might think, and it's pretty cool to feel BeamNG's physics translated to actual motion! Hope you like it!

Nice! I'd love to test a setup like that! Could you tell us about how much something like that costs?

That's epic! Thanks for sharing! How would you say it compared to driving a real vehicle?

    Also, welcome to the forums!

A system like that, around seventy thousand US, give or take a few bucks for different screen options, seats, controls, that kinda thing. That's ready-to-go - video, sound, high end PC. We're working on a new 3-axis system that also spins around like the 401cr, and we're aiming for less than half the price of our current ones, along with it being smaller, easier to move around, and cheaper to ship!

Thanks! It's pretty good - better in VR, but unfortunately I don't think BeamNG supports VR yet. I race a Miata in real life and train on the simulator, and it's darn close. You don't get the full scale of the accelerations, but car control, suspension feel, immersion - it's all there. It's more than just the shake-and-vibrate you get with a lot of other setups; you can actually feel the car through the corner, know where you are in the traction circle, and drive it by the seat of your pants. It's great!

    Yes, you do! :)

If you do the same with a real car, you won't live to tell the tale:p.

Whoa, that's some awesome stuff! Did you have to integrate some custom Lua into the game in order to get the full rotational effects? (Also i thought at first when you said "the brake is broken" you meant it broke something on the motion platform, hehe)

How do you route the power cables to the monitor and PC without getting them tangled up when rotating 360? Also, what are the power requirements to run one of those?

Oh... Even at half the price it would be worth more than both of the cars my family has. So no new toys for me any time soon, unless I win a lotery.

And just from curioucity... What kind of specs do the PCs that you've using?
I've played on much more basic setup using a g27 wheel and 2 axis movement seat, It was a great expirience taking some jumps in dirt 3, of course after I've teached the guy who brought the sim to the show how to set up dirt 3 for the g27 wheel :p

So with your new settup I'd imagine that it could fit without the PC in about 30k-35k$?

I'd imagine that is is essentially an USB cable with each pin being connected to a spearate ring under the platform and "brushes" simmilar to those in electic motors on the other side. My grand dad's rotating christmass tree did work like that at least 40 years ago.

It would be cool to see a video of different kind of scenarios in Beam, like normal driving, track racing, rally cross (with jumps) and minor crashes.
From the video that you've provided so far, I'm kind of suprised that it does not lift the seat up on take off to prepare for the impact on landing.

I think I have been on one but not a 3D version of one, it was more of a 2D version with X and Y feel at Le Mans a few years ago that was weird but with this one its gonna be something special!

Wow, that's very cool! If you need any help with software integration (more exposed data or higher frequencies or whatever) please shoot me or one of the other staff members a PM.

There are those game events where new games are showcased, this system and BeamNG would make a big hit on such event, I think you should collaborate to E3 or something what kind of events would be possible as it would benefit both companies.

I think I remember Force Dynamics from old days, when sim racing just started to pick up momentum, great to see you are doing well!

There's a slip ring in the base that transmits power and a signal cable for the emergency stop. We can also run other stuff through - we have some machines that send three channels of HD data through the slip rings, but that gets pricey!

I've thought for a while that we ought to sponsor lotteries.

Usually we do "one step from the top" specs. So, whatever's the second from the top CPU (Intel), GPU (nVidia), SSD. Now there's a $1m surcharge if you want a GPU faster than a potato... ;)

...because when you land, you feel a positive vertical force - a force from below. So you want the system to be down low when you land so it can move up on impact.

Thanks! I think we've got everything we need right now (as you can see) but I'll keep that in mind as we're working on stuff.

If the devs want to work something out, we'd be happy to talk to them!

Yep, we're still here! You can like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, yada yada... :)

In addition to what @Diamondback said, if you need help with the steering wheel and force feedback setup, let me know (the setup may not immediately obvious for those kind of steering wheels at the moment).

I am wondering here, If the company were offered a chance at a partnership deal from BeamNG Drive would Force Dynamics accept the offer?

This is a HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION okay...
