I know they're adding Demolition Derbies, and that there are a lot of Demolition Derby threads about, but I've only once seen UK Banger Racing mentioned. That was in the car suggestion thread (I think) and it was 1 single post.

I'd love to see typical UK banger cars added, not specifically for bangers though, standard cars seen around the UK in the 80s/90s/early 2000s, just with the option to completely strip them down, removing all glass, all seats (except driver's), all lights, the option to be able to weld certain parts of the car shut (e.g. doors, bonnet (hood), boot (truck)), add a roll cage.

Another thing that'd be nice, not necessarily just for this, would be the option to add a tow bar (hitch) to any vehicle (maybe excluding the sports cars). Currently it's just the truck that you can add it to, but pretty much any vehicle can have one added, so would be a nice feature.

Finally, related to both the above, I'd like to see caravans. Make them have all features (glass, lights, etc.), but make it so you're able to remove everything from them, leaving just a chassis, wheels and body, no interior, no glass, no lights. Just for the fun of caravan banger racing.

The closest I've currently found to a semi-decent UK banger game is the SoD mod for Carmageddon 2, which, is lacking somewhat in the physics and graphics departments.

I would love to see uk banger racing on here. I usually go and watch it every sunday when it is on and in my opinion it is better than demo derbys because with banger racing they go around a track and smash each other to pieces at speed but with demo derbys its just kind of boring for me

It sucks that there isn't banger racing in America, or at least that it's very rare. From the videos I've watched, it seems so much more exciting and awesome (And yes, I am aware that "awesome" is so overused that it has lost all meaning and that making fun of how overused "awesome" is has also started to get old, but I suppose that you'll just have to deal with it, foo'.) than American demolition derbies.

That video makes me so mad. Is it just me? Gah. There's a line between having fun crashing cars, and trying to kill people. Why would you plow into a huge pile-up of cars at 40 mph?! WHY?! It's quite obvious that most of those videos aren't accidents. You can tell guys going out of their way, hammer down, to hit those cars. I can't even put into words how mad I am at these people in this video.

From what I've heard, people rarely get injuries worse than broken bones, and the roll cage around them allows the drivers to remain save while the rest of their car is brutalized, although I can't really know, since these don't exist in America.

Those guys were getting crushed. There was no roll cage, or a very weak one in those cars. In one of the first ones, as the car is folding up, you can see the driver waving his arms around, but more dumbasses still keep ramming into the back of the line. That one really gets to me. I don't like watching "best banger racing hits", especially the european ones. Those guys just seem so inconsiderate. This stuff never happens in america. Well, we don't really have much banger racing. It's either demo derbies, which are mainly small hits, or dirt races, where a bunch of guys drive around a dirt oval, trying not to hit each other. One time I was at this dirt track watching a race, and the cars out there were the fast ones, the ones that look like door wedges, or like one of those wooden cars that boy scouts build. Anyway, one time this guy accidentally pitted another car in a corner. The car started flipping. Again and again. It probably rolled 4 or 5 times before it came to a rest. The guy that pitted him completely stopped his car, got out, and ran over to the car that flipped, and stayed until it was all cleaned up. It just seems like such a friendlier attitude than over there.

The sports always been like that, if you think that looked dangerous then you should look at some of the videos from the 80's and 90's. Same speed and even less safety! The cars are supposed to bend, that's why the drivers don't get hurt, they go out there knowing full well someone could steam straight into the back of them. It's a spectacle and the crowd love it. Most of the times when the guys are waving their hands outside of their car is supposed to signal that someone should drive into the back of them, believe it or not. The first example shows how much a car can bend and does look rather scary but as soon as it looks dangerous the marshals are waving their flags and stopping them. There is no way the cars at the back could have seen how drastically that car folded up.

Yes the cars are folding, but the passenger compartment is folding. And this wasn't a "hit me" wave. This dude took both of his hands of the wheel and was waving. It looks like at the marshall. I don't understand how some of these guys lived. Whatever. I guess it's just how it is.

the built speck for bangers is very high and persithic and although i love i t i understand your point of people not drawing the line on hurting people and having a crash, there is a few different types of bangers though like : National bangers ( what you see in the video, very hard hitting and the most dangerous), Limited bangers ( smaller cars, slower speeds but can still get nasty at times) and Rookie bangers witch is what i find most fun ( cheaper cars and the race rules are alot stricter in the race.. its more like nudges and spinning) soo its not all trying to kill each other lol and injury wise its a common sore neck and a atiff back when you wake up the next day but in its time it has been a few fatal crashes .. ill see if i can get a video of a more fun banger form :) and if anyone could make some uk banger cars that would be sooooo COOL !

We'll carry on smashing cars into one another and you guys can carry on watching cars doing endless laps of the same circle track for hours on end.

I only went to a banger race once and it was cut short early because a driver had to be cut free from his vehicle and airlifted to hospital. Dangerous sport but the drivers know what they are signing up for.

EDIT: Must clarify, I dont really watch motorsports.

I play a fair bit of pool at the uni bar, someone managed to fling a ball right off the table and hit somebody with it. Even a humble game of pool leads to injury :p

Yeah I'm not saying everyone should stop. It looks like a pretty fun sport. I don't think they should change the rules at all. It just looks like some of them got a little too caught up in the moment.

you're all overreacting. Its an absolute riot to be in these, even if you've become the unlucky person in a wrecking train. I've been in a wrecking train like that and to be honest its not that bad. The car moves around you, as long as you have set up a strong barrier behind the driver's seat and remove almost everything that's close to you then you have ALOT of room for crumpling. Not to mention there's a really thick steel plate you have to bolt and weld to the driver's door, bolted to the B pillar and firewall to reinforce the driver's side. Its something daft like half or quarter inch thick. You don't put a roll cage into the car, you only reinforce front driver's side of the car and the car will crumple around the driver. Its a massive spectacle to behold and its something that's really exciting to be involved in. There's no "dickishness" and if it was truly unsafe then the sport would have been shut down ages ago.

Its a sporting event that's been around for as long as scrap cars have existed. The regulators know what they're doing and I've never really heard of anyone getting killed in banger racing for as long as I've been at it. and another thing... this is as close as I can get to a bloodsport event. I went in fully aware of the risks, and I want to live my life not being wrapped up in cotton wool. I'm happy to take any of the excitement I can out of this, even if its dangerous you feel more alive when the adrenaline is going and the sense of real risk is exciting.

Cant find many references to banger racing deaths online, found 1 in staffordshire and thats it, it was also a case of the guy trying to get out of the car while the race was in progress so any safety features are of course immediately thrown out of the window.

Considering they are pretty regular events if they were truly an absolute danger to the drivers lives we would hear about it.

I guess maybe they looked worse on the video or something. After hearing those statistics, I'm fine with it. I'm not gonna be one of those people that ruins stuff by trying making it too safe. I don't like those people.
