I've been playing BeamNG for a while now and realized that only the main parts of the vehicle fall off and bend. as a suggested idea for the future if it's considered making small bits of the car litter the area upon impact. like cars in those crash videos, it would be amazing to have this setting toggle for lower end pc's if needed.
The general consensus is this would be too demanding on too many computers during typical play to be worth working on. I'm sure small improvements will come, but nothing major.
Yep! This is the main thing holding BeamNG crashes back from looking just like real ones. Also, i think making this optional for low end machines wouldn't be too difficult
Doesn't unity have some kind of particle system to deal with this kind of thing? it creates one object and the rest are just points that are copies of the first one which it renders once only. The debris needs not be anything more complex than a single triangle that disappears after a short while (life expectancy is used to save processing power)
Driver San Francisco had some nice particles effects that fell to the ground. i wonder if it would be complicated so implement particles effects like that in beamng.
A particle system would be a great way to make this happen, but if it was using pieces of parts from the car, that would kill any machine. The way that jbeam works, this is impossible, unless the entire thing was overhauled. I don't think the devs have that kind of time.
if there was a particle system that would work a lot better, and you could just turn it off in settings. so yes
