It's actually a problem. I feel for tdev's stresses involved in this- its probably a good thing i became inactive on this forum for the past few years... Get out normies.
guys, it's a game. chill out. some of y'all are way too attached to it. personally, i believe the mods should hand out 1-month or 2-month bans to these people causing all this drama. people clearly aren't listening, lay down the hammer.
I do agree that certain level of guidance by moderation is needed when individuals are not able to do self moderation.
The thing is, the devs should focus more on the game than moderating the forums, it would get development done much faster (I believe).
Read the post? "We tried to improve the ratings system: Post rating was nice and all, but some users just tried to score really high by spamming the forums. The system is disabled for now, the data is still existing, no ratings are lost. We are looking into a more balanced way of having the user collect points without them turning the whole forum into game to end up in some leaderbord."
I do not think my ban was completely necessary, yeah, I may have caused problems but a 5 day ban for putting up a dumb thread because I was tired and bored is somewhat unnecessary. My suggestion for the wellbeing of this forum is: Less tight moderator restriction rules, I went on a slight rant about this explaining my opinion on steam to another person that you probably wouldn't want to see as at the time I were.. Rather pissed off about it. I won't keep complaining though as it looks to be everything's sorted and fine and dandy!
What I think should happen is that when someone registers their account, they will get a 'Welcome to the forums!' message on their profile page automatically sent by @BeamBot telling them the basic rules of the forums, etc.
Yes, that would be a good point to start, it will probably not have an impact on most new members, but it will at least guide them in the right direction, and if it only helps some, even that would be enough.
I need to put out what I need to do. 1. The Ratings Issue No. Nothing's here, it'll be sorted soon, chill your tits. 2. The Signature Shorteners I've been using internet that goes down to 0.29 MB/s and I've never had loading issues on this site, not once. If you do have loading issues on this site stop using dialup basic internet with a computer that runs Windows PotatOS. 3. The Ratings Issue - My opinion Right, how the hell do you get so riled up by a bunch of pixels? If you do get angry at a bunch of coloured pixels being temporarily removed, then your brain is so full of thick shit you're generally really thick. I'd admit, at first I was rather clumped about it because I couldn't express what I thought of a post in a short amount of time. But eventually, you get used to it. Give it a chance, its only temporary anyways. 4. The Removal of The Members Tab I partially agree with this but not fully. The "Birthdays" tab should come back because it gives us time saying happy birthdays to thou who have their birthday on that certain day. 5. Arguments Arguments are a thing, arguments will always be a thing, it's better to let them fly before they turn violent otherwise it'll lead to bad consequences. 6. Moderator strictness A 5 day bean for creating a dumb thread.. Why? 7. /rant Let people protest or bad things will happen. Take the inspiration for countries that didn't let their civilians protest and those countries collapsed, I'd imagine the same would happen for a forum. END OF /rant
