I invite everybody to slow down with their fantasy and apocalyptic scenarios that are not even even barely related to what this thread is for.

Also to avoid useless arguments, nobody asked for and need them.

Because my message was just cut...

Allow mod makers to lock their own mod threads for WIP pics, so they don't have to deal with tens of users telling them what to do next all the time.
The groups system allowed some to do that before the groups thing went downhill.

Hey, I have an idea @tdev and @Nadeox1

Just limit the amount of ratings that can be given to like 10 ratings in like 10 minutes.
Sometimes people go through and rate my posts up on one of my map threads when they discover them, but other than that, I don't see a need for rapid ratings honestly. Like if you hit up the dev screens thread or the gameplay shots 'each post a screen' thread, you might rate a bunch up.

This way the server isn't overburdened too much, and the forum isn't abused as much.

The ratings were useful, I could figure what people like more just by posting a few different things I made in the map. What got rated more was definitely going to increase in population in the map (places that has said item/arrangement).

Regardless, it's not my deal what goes on really, but it was nice to see if you got a bunch of ratings, as that gives some form of gratification, or accomplishment (artificial, but still something). It also lets you know you're heading the right way in mod development. It's also nice to give a thumbs up to the devs when they post to a map thread, etc. It's a cold, lonely, sterile place without those ratings.

Buy a Threadripper CPU for your server. Then you won't have such an issue. It won't have to be an i9/Xeon that melts both polar caps on the planet every time some 13 year old kiddo finds he can spam up the ratings button.

About the regulars going bonkers, yeah I'm not perfect but I try to behave...
*Throws a half-eaten squirrel at @Nadeox1 for no reason other than to mock stupid behavior*
    yeah, that, absolutely that.

--Wish you guys the best & good luck.

Members tab is visible on the mobile site for me (clicking Members gives you the Member Search page, the 4 subtabs go nowhere).

Should be looked at (and removed).

Has consideration been given to capping the number of positive ratings a user can give another user within a specified time period?

For example, let's imagine we have two forum users, named Purs0n@ and persunB. Both are obsessed with receiving as many positive "likes" and "awesomes" as possible, so they have a mutual understanding that every time Purs0n@ sees one of persunB's posts, they will give it a "like" and vice versa. This results in both users spamming the forums and like-spamming each other.

Suppose that an automated cap was put in place - Purs0n@ is now only allowed to "like" five of persunB's posts within a twelve-hour period, and is only allowed to hand out five "awesomes" in total during the same period - with the requirement that each "awesome" go to a different user. Purs0n@ is still allowed to hand out as many "likes" as they wish, but can only give five "likes" to each individual user during that period.

Of course, this would also apply to persunB and every other user on the forum - and while it would likely spark protest, it's better than having nothing at all. The hope is that this would allow users to continue to give many positive ratings to a wide variety of other forum users, and discourage the artificial inflation of positive ratings by like-spammers.

Of course, there are likely several technical or behavioural issues I'm overlooking.

Like, Agree, Funny, Informative, and Useful should be the only ratings imho. some posts are down right hilarious, some i like and some I agree with, and some are either Informative or Useful.

Great work devs, good to see youre on top of things. One can only hope the maturity issues some members carry, that effect every single one on these forums, vanish but since the dawn of forums the problem has been there so maybe not keep our hopes high on that point.

I have one too, why we people feel we need to offer advise to devteam who has been running the show many years and according to tdev they have been running big forums from 10 years old? Where comes this distrust to tdev and his team to be able to handle the forum?

Not distrust; this thread was made as a sort of Q&A, some of us offered suggestions, not out of disrespect so much as out of care for these forums, and especially those who run them.

I did read this thread trying to see how tdev might see this all and I get impression of 1000 monkeys using typewriters each thinking they have best idea. Kinda impression is monkeys (me included) think they know it better than one that has been running forums for a long time.

Reading first post there is that part related to this, worth to read over few times I think.

I really like a lot of the changes. I will hopefully feel more comfortable. I just shake my head whenever I see all this immaturity around here.
