Guys, there isn't a way to "stop the trolls". It isn't as simple as implementing a new system to block the unwanted. When you start a match on csgo, or any online game, do you expect everyone ever to be well-rounded, outstanding citizen role model playing the game as intended? NO. Sometimes you meet people who are cheating, harassing, or both. Sometimes you meet people that sound like abusive husbands yelling at everyone what to do. Sometimes you meet people who intentionally antagonize you and/or others when you are playing.

Now imagine these people on your board. What do you do? A system isn't a one way street, it's a two way-road. If there's good intent, there's always a exploit.

Basically just use real people to weed out the unwanted. Like moderators and such. More of them probably.

Agreed. That's why I've been suggesting to hire at least one more moderator that isn't from Europe for the past few months. At least then there would be somebody around to deescalate an issue before it becomes a huge disaster.

    But tdev says no.

I'm happy to see some moderative actions being put in now, honestly this was a mess just a week ago that was sometimes scaring me. Yesterday and the day before I was legitimately considering ditching the forums entirely, it was bad. And it still is bad, but progress is being made towards an improvement and a returning to the roots.

Can we get over ratings already?
    They're not needed, and here's why;

If you agree with someones post for instance, why not think of a really nice and thought out post to quote that user, and explain that you agree with them and why. Or for liking a post, for a car mod for instance, instead of spamming the thread with a ton of meaningless "Awesome" ratings or likes (Or even funnies in the terms of my Vendetta mod,) why not partially or completely quote the original post (Depending on length,) and explain what about it you like, suggestions for the author, and/or things you would like to see in terms of current progress.

Ratings only lead to confusion, and aside from a simple "Thank You" you could give to a post, ratings are meaningless because your words can say more than a bunch of pixels with numbers beside them.

In some cases pictures are more powerful than words, though on a forum an icon is worth a couple words at best.

I think everyone has forgotten the original purpose of this forum :/
This was meant for feedback on the game, discussion about the game, and we had an off-topic section for reasonable discussion about other things, still to be somewhat tied to BeamNG.

This wasn't meant to be a place where everyone competed for the most ratings per post, the most absurd thing you could say and not get your post deleted, or a place for mini-mods/backseat moderators, along other things.

This wasn't meant to be a place where everyone ditches paying attention in class just to post crap here (Yes, this is a thing that people do/did.And it's quite concerning, coming from someone who tried to separate himself from electronics and social media to focus on school.)

I joined to be part of a community interested in BeamNG.Drive, not one where everyone was trying to compete for leaderboard status, ratings, and other non-relevant things.

If you're on vacation, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your vacation, and while it's a true shame that you and everyone else had to take time to deal with this mess, I do say thank you.

Just like a teacher I had in highschool... She was so fed up with her class one day that she literally stopped the lesson, and addressed the class. These kids were making a joke out of sexual misconduct, and everyone was starting to get in on it.

Sometimes people need a strong reminder of what they're doing and whether or not they should be doing it. I bring up my highschool teacher here because this is the same age group in play here that is partially responsible for the (long overdue and needed,) crackdown on forum behavior.

No. The forum shouldn't need a ROBLOX style and sized moderation team with tons of moderators. Instead, the individual members need to seriously reconsider their posts and actions, and think about if they should post that or not. Otherwise they need to be sent on a forum vacation, and/or banned by our existing moderators. Remove the plant by the roots, don't spray poison on it.

I think I need some of that magical sauce that makes your posts so wise and thought out, I couldn't have said it better myself :p

I am having a tough time ajusting to having no ratings currently. I've already wanted to agree to a few posts and rate some funny (cause they made me chuckle). glad that you have posted a TODO list so we know what is coming.

I hope I don't sound mean, but the absence of the system forces people to read what people have said.

It's the millet man, gotta get that good bird seed.

Back on topic, another question I'd like to pose is: What about a dedicated way for new members to introduce themselves on the forums? Perhaps a highly-advertised "Introduce Yourself" thread or something of the like.

Sorry, I just walk on eggshells a lot, due to how sensitive I see this forum, and the internet for that matter, is...

Could it be possible to delete our own groups that we are owners of?

Yes. They don't have to be given full mod status though. It can be so they can see posts that have been reported, and decide whether or not it is worth the devs' time, or something like that.

Also, speaking of moderators, I keep hearing that one quit. Who exactly? I haven't found anything about it.

Hopefully the changes means someone will actually start moderating.

Most likely things related to the staff would be locked, kinda like how we can't do stuff like ignore them and whatnot.
