Solved What is the name of the .dds file i need to edit to make a skin?

    Hi!

    I'll just cut to the chase here. I'm attempting to make a skin for the Covet according to the wiki. I am looking through the Covet's folder, and I don't see which .dds file i should edit.

    You can base your skin mod on the hatch_dirt.dds skin, but you still need to change the name and add it in the materials.cs file
    + don't forget about adding the skin itself as a part that you caj equip in .jbeam file.
    I highly suggest you to disect the skin mod sample that is included in the wiki tutorial to see what is what.

    Okay, let me explain this...

    1.you can't just edit the in game skin, as your skin would owerwrite the skin you edit.
    ...so you have to change the name of the file.
    When you change the filename, you need to add another skin to the materials.cs file to make it work.
    And when you will have the skin itself and you added your skin to materials.cs file, you will find that you can't choose the skin in the parts selector, because you didn't make a .jbeam file containing the skin attached to paint design slot.

    I’m making it according to the wiki. Can I just duplicate the dirt file and change the name?

    Yes, you can.this is the way I did my skin for Moonhawk V10.
