I think I'd prefer a Suburban, but that thing is pretty sweet. Spinning all four tires is quite impressive.

 

Here's the Suburban in question, it's a 91 half ton Starcraft conversion, Bone stock 350 and 4L60 and 10 bolts with 40 inch swampers.

Truck was totally stock besides a 6 inch lift and the 40's, still had all the conversion stuff in it too, TV, VCR, stripper lights, etc.


It looked awesome, but had a hell of time turning those 40's with a stock 350 and 3.55 gears.

 

This is the definition of a sleeper.

 

This....this is the ultimate sleeper. I would have never expected anything like a twin-turbo LS in a rusty pickup truck. Geez....

 

Started first time

 

The fact that you're impressed a car from 2012 started first try in sort-of-a-little-bit-coldish weather really says a lot about it.

 

it's a diesel, even with glow plugs it made a fuss once with about 2 seconds total cranking time (i think the glow plugs weren't working correctly as the day from that it didn't start). Mercedes diesel designed around 2000 (OM612).
If only i had some video of the Renault Espace cold starting, like maybe 0 -1c you would be pumping the accelerator and it would take a good minute or too of solid cranking. Like damn that had a good battery in that.
Like when it actually fired the smoke that came out, like that was stunning like a diesel smoke machine. (Like think of the -20c cold starts, but this was at like 1c).

 

Just how difficult would it be to convert something like a sedan into a pickup truck?

 

Depends on how well done you want the final product to be. I'm sure you could just chop off part of the back and make a bed out of plywood, but it wouldn't exactly be a high quality result. To actually be used like a pickup truck, most sedans don't have the same level of power and torque, so you wouldn't be able to haul as much stuff or tow as much weight.

 

It would just needs to be able to be driven legaly on the road and able to hold a bit of load

The two of you get me on a spiritual level.

 

When I pulled the crown vic off of the auction lot it was overheating and running like shit. It took $20 to fix both of those issues, making it drivable. I've put about 1000 miles on it now and it's given me no problems.
This is why I keep coming back to the panther platform.
The car seems destined to get beat up though. The tow company cracked the rear bumper cover and caved the trunk in, the front bumper is chewed up because I caught it on an irrigation sprinkler head, and there are scuffs and scratches on the fascia from the front end of the car getting shoved into a sturdy bush.

 

I don't think those two things are ever meant to be in the same place, though I assume that's at least part of the reason they were.

 

Normally you'd be correct but I wasn't even really being an idiot. My wheels never left the pavement. Someone decided that it was smart to put a sprinkler right behind a pretty tall curb at the end of a parking space.

 

But how else would they water the pavement?

 

It sure isn't getting watered now because my bumper ripped it out of the ground.

 

I ripped my bumper off in a similar fashion.

Only this one was on the pavement in front of the curb, I was reversing into the spot so I never saw the bloody thing.

Spent 20mins in a car park getting stared at by people as I put the bumper back on
