My first thread, and it's a ripoff of "Ask a Brit", "Ask a Southerner", and "Ask an American." I own a 1979 Datsun 280ZX, and this thread is intended to answer questions about old Japanese cars for those who are interested in buying one. All questions having something to do with the Datsun are welcome.

Well, since the title is "Classic Car Owner" I guess I could say that I own an 84 Corvette and could answer questions as well.

I'm currently restoring my Dad's '74 260z, so I guess you can ask about that too.

I wish I could join the party but atlas I'm too poor and live in a area that gets snow.

How big were the rust holes in the floor pans?

For mine, big enough to warrant a new floor pan kit, along with new carpet.

    1. What's the mileage on it?

    2. Is it expensive to own? Like insurance for example.

    3. How much was it when it was bought?

His was 1979, maybe they got better by then. Where does @Puzzle live? Climate can affect how rust forms. If this car was in Arizona or something since 1979, there wouldn't be much rust.

I guess I'll chip in to be asked, I've got a 47 Chevy 2 ton and a 69 VW Beetle. Experiences differ wildly between them.
