I hope that BeamNG turns into this type of game. You start out with your crappy little rusty D-series (As it is in Rocky Start rn) you can restore it or... you can scrap it for money and/or parts. Heres where the path branches...

    1. You could buy a cheap car from the Scrap yard and work on restoring it...

    2. You could buy a engine-less car then dump the engine from the D-series into it

    3. You could buy a really cheap used car off of someone selling it online/in a newspaper

My point is... if the devs go in this direction you have a game that's astronomically fun with huge amounts of replayability.

    --Edit--

I just realised how old this thread is... jeez

They said the player will be able to buy old junkers and fix them up, and there has to be some way of acquiring the new cars, so that is at minimum 2 unique ways of purchasing vehicles. I'm not sure how many different ways the career mode will have for purchasing cars or what the worse condition a used car may be in. I believe A Rocky Start is an immediate prelude, so the career mode will start with that rusty D15. I am sure we will be able to take parts off of vehicles to put onto other vehicles in our garage, and the devs said the finished game will have a very large parts library so I am sure there will be more available engine swaps and such.

(If you haven't already, you should read the Over the Horizon dev post and watch some of the steam trailer/green light videos)

I highly doubt there will be a physical junk yard though. The game engine doesn't really allow the player to be outside the car, and a junkyard in a map done properly may be too demanding on performance (yes it probably would be easy if they cut corners, but that's unlike them).

This isn't going to happen in a near future sadly... But, If we're talking about the career wishlist... I'd love to see a roleplay multiplayer server with jobs and stuffs...
It might be weird for you, but In my opinion this game shouldn't be just about crashing. Its physics engine Is great at making the cars handle better than in any other game ever! My Favorite thing to do is just driving and sliding about on dirt roads with my custom stage 1 supercharged, 5speed manual moonhawk.
