    Hi everyone,
as told on the Oldsfullsize thread, i create a new one to share my little cars collection and show the progress of a little town i'll do on a table, when i'll get a dedicated room of my home restored. The purpose is to make a creative activity with my daughter, painting trees and backgrounds, and not to do a super detailled diorama.

For that purpose i have opened all the old boxes containing my Die cast when i was a kid, and since some monthes i collect new ones to have a nice range of variety to display, police cars, fire dept, town services and building, planes, and so on. Junkyard also, i want to make a big one.

As said in the Oldsfullsize topic, donations via paypal are always appreciated for the mods, but you could also send me a little car your already own and put it in a letter, it will be also appreciated a lot and i'll post photos here of the cars i'll eventually receive. And it will be part of the project.

So here we go, a quick overview of the cars that are in a little showcase (i have more cars in boxes, folders, and so on)

    serge_diecast_collection_000008.jpg

Bigger cars and multiscale junkyard below :

    serge_diecast_collection_000009.jpg

Some cars i've recently collected for very cheap prices :

    serge_diecast_collection_000006.jpg

Brand New 1:43 scale east europa and russian cars i bought very cheap too, very nicely detailled :

    serge_diecast_collection_000003.jpg

this is a Matchbox lot i just purchased on ebay, for 10 euros, pretty happy about it because it goes from very good condition to vintage junkyard

    serge_ebay_lot.jpg

Now this is a custom table i first did for me and my daughter. I made textures on my PC, printed them on stickers, cut them and here is the result. This table is now dismantled, but i'll use it fully or partially for the big table project.

    serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0001.jpg serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0003.jpg serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0008.jpg serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0009.jpg serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0010.jpg serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0031.jpg

    serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0021.jpg serge_custom_parking_diecasts_0027.jpg

I have also bought a vintage Matchbox Motorway, it's running fine and it allows to make my regular 1:64 diecast run on a circuit. It's noisy but fun. I'm a lot inspired by the work of this guy, a great amateur of die cast popular art (he's got a way bigger die cast collection than me :))

Here is my set up, i'll bought another one to make a longer track, or find spare parts :

    serge-matchbox-motorway00002.jpg serge-matchbox-motorway00003.jpg serge-matchbox-motorway00007.jpg serge-matchbox-motorway00008.jpg

And to finish this presentation, here the superb little cars i received from Qwerty9586 for my birthday, thanks again dude, they are awesome !

A detailled custom Caprice by Maisto, and a nice Crown Vic by Matchbox, which becomes my most recent Matchbox !

    gift_qwerty9586_01.jpg gift_qwerty9586_04.jpg
They will be nice besides my other impalas :)

    serge_impalas.jpg

This topic will go on, stay tuned ! I have to replace the window and make a lot of work in the room that will welcome the little town table !

    Sweet!

These eastern-european cars look like IST models for DeA, they had a very succesful collection run in Poland a few years ago.

I have the same Oltcit Club and a few others myself. Very cheap, pretty decent quality and suggestive subjects for us westerners.

Yes, the white one in the first pic is the infamous Yugo. ;)

You should custom paint some police cars to be like lore friendly to the town.

I bought those eastern cars in a shop called NOZ where they buy damaged stock, shop failures stock and so on. All were brand new, no damaged, and cheap (3 euros or something instead of 10 to 15 from what i saw on ebay).

Yeah custom paint and decals will be something i'll do. For now, i selected some cars that survived my early paintjobs as a kid, and i've removed all the paint. I'm waiting for spray paint cheap opportunities, or maybe i'll buy a little compressor and aerograph.

If there is an arts & craft ot hobby shop in your town you could probably get some spraypaint for 2-10 euros depending on the brand & quallity.

He he, i live in a very little town and don't have such. There is a shop with very discount price on paint, but very basic colors, could be usefull for some cars.
What is possible to do though when i'll have an aerograph, would be to buy paint repair brushes for cars, and use the paint in the aerograph with a thinner.
The car shop seller told me a lot of model kit amateurs buy him those repair brushes for that purpose. They are cheap.

I started to sort the cars by categories in the purpose to preview the little town project. Like that i will see what is missing, not enough represented, or in bad shape, and i could see what i will have to purchase in the next few monthes.

So i begin with the services cars, Fire Departments, Ambulances and doctors, then police. And fact is that, while muscle cars, sports cars and regular cars are over represented in the collection, service cars can be a lot improved. Some cars are in average, bad or junkyard shapes, and it lacks brand new ones.

Here is a mix of Majorette, Matchbox, unbranded made in china but interesting.
Some are brand new and low quality like the newest majorette which are a shame compared to when they were
the best little diecast of their time, so solid and with springs suspensions.
One of the Matchbox Plymouth was covered with some kind of glue or clear coat, and it looks dusty like that.
The Ford LTD, Range Rover and Mercedes G are vintage and in good shape.
The Majorette Dodge inspired trucks pickup and tow version are not really Fire Trucks, but has they are red i put them
    in this Fire Service.
Lots of trucks are missing their scales.

    serge_diecast_servicecars_0001.jpg serge_diecast_servicecars_0002.jpg

Ambulances are under represented. The Matchbox Citroen CX is like new. There is an interesting Doctor
Alpine A310. The Porsche 911 is missing its decals so it could be a police car as well as emergency.
The two white trucks are Fire dept, and then a serie of Fire dept made in china, that are funny to display, or will
be in the junkyard. Then Fire helicopter and boat.

    serge_diecast_servicecars_0003.jpg serge_diecast_servicecars_0004.jpg

Police cars in good, average or bad shape.
First two cars are forgotten Ambulance, the Matchbox Cadillac is definitly for the junkyard, the glasses
    are too bad.

    serge_diecast_servicecars_0005.jpg serge_diecast_servicecars_0006.jpg

In this last image i've added Starsky's Torino, Kojak's Regal, and the Crown Vic given by Qwerty9586

    serge_diecast_servicecars_0007.jpg

I will go on making this sorting and photos by categories, but as it takes some times to sort cars then replace them in the showcase, i will do it slowly, stay tuned.
Soon to come an impressive junkyard :)

Wow. I always wanted to make something like that but never had the time to do so.
I like not having to worry about scale and how realistic the town looks so I can have completely random stuff there.
Good for you I hope it ends up well!

he he thanks, my main worry is not the town itself but the room i have to restore. I have done all the restoration in my old house, and for this room i'll have to replace two windows, a new roof, lower, electricity, new walls and insulation. i'll have to restore the wood floor as well. So big work, some money, but making a creative room is motivating. My GF like to model Fimo jewelery, so she'll have space for that in this room.

Hi, just sharing what i've received today, unboxing included :p
I sold a model kit for a good price on ebay, and it allowed me to experiment some high quality models in 1:64 scale.
They will be displayed as parked/showroom cars in the future little town, as hotwheels, Matchbox and Majorette are still the best rolling ones for the Motorway electric track ;)
I dream since one year about those marvellous little cars so today is a great day :)

I'm really impressed by the overall quality and details of those cars. They are also heavy, almost all full metal made.
They are used unboxed cars, but all like new without any wear, except one that has a missing part. The Box is an american mail one, but i bought it in a french Ebay shop.

    serge_diecast_highquality_0001.jpg serge_diecast_highquality_0002.jpg

54' Mercury Sun Valley by M2 Machines, 76' Trans Am by Auto World, 67' Impala and 55' Elvis Presley's Cadillac by Greenlight.
All cars have opening hood, and the Mercury has opening doors as well. So much details in those tiny cars, it's a pleasure to look at.
The Trans Am doesn't want to keep the hood opened, it has to be stuck by something to keep opened.

    serge_diecast_highquality_0005.jpg serge_diecast_highquality_0006.jpg serge_diecast_highquality_0007.jpg

M2 Machines 70' Torino with missing rear spoiler, and 3 by Johnny Lightning: AMC AMX street machine fun, 76' Olds Cutlass and 71' Riviera street machine.

    serge_diecast_highquality_0008.jpg serge_diecast_highquality_0009.jpg serge_diecast_highquality_0010.jpg

More humble cars, but good rollers, 71' Riviera by Hotwheels and 69' cadillac de ville by Matchbox

    serge_diecast_highquality_0012.jpg serge_diecast_highquality_0011.jpg

    All the chassis now :

    serge_diecast_highquality_0013.jpg

What i also enjoy is that scale seems to be pretty correct, 56' Cadillac looks like a limo compared to the Trans Am, this is brilliant.

This is the part of the town i already have the biggest pleasure to look at : the junkyard, or models for garage backyards, also abandonned cars is town, etc...
See all those playworn, broken, used to death but colorfull little cars is an enjoyment.

I'm pretty happy about what i got by searching those cars in people's homes spring cleaning sales, because they are mostly vintage cars, 30/40 years old.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0001.jpg serge_diecast_junkyard_0002.jpg

    Let's detail them :

Mercedes lot with a broken Majorette stretch, a 450 SE by Majorette, a 230 SL by Matchbox, two 500 SL by Majorette, and a two 250, Sedan and Ambulance, by Corgi. In the back we see an Audi 80.
    serge_diecast_junkyard_0003.jpg

English cars lot : Jaguar Type E V12 Majorette, two Ford Zodiak by Matchbox, one Jaguar XJS by MC toys, Two Rolls Royce Silver Shadow I by Matchbox, then Lotus Seven, two Europa by Matchbox, and a modern Jaguar by Majorette.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0004.jpg

Little Ford lot, one Thunderbird and two Mustang, all by Majorette

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0005.jpg

retired race vintage race cars lot :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0006.jpg

Renault lot. They are all by majorette except the red Renault 17 by Matchbox, and a grey non visible R5 Turbo by Corgy, under the grey Renault 5.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0007.jpg

    Trucks lot :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0008.jpg

Japanese cars, all by Majorette : Toyota 4WD, Toyota Celica 2.0 gt and Datsun 260 Z.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0009.jpg

Muscle cars, Customs, two Holden pickup and a nice choice of red Dodge Challenger, two El camino, Three Corvette, one lincoln Continental ...

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0010.jpg

Super cars lot : Diablo, Pantera, Z8, Maserati Bora made in Spain, Countach with broken suspension, Early Matchbox Superfast with one missing wheel, and some funky imaginary cars...

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0011.jpg

    Concept cars lot :
Two Lamborghini Marzal by Matchbox and two Citroen GS Camargue by Majorette.
It's fun how those toys brands had declined them as if they were production cars.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0012.jpg

Bmw lot : Two M3 E46 by Majorette and a little E36 touring which is the replica of my own real car, unfortunatly with one missing wheel.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0013.jpg

Retired and playworn, broken police cars :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0014.jpg

pile of scraps, mixed toys wrecks :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0015.jpg

    off road, buggies, trucks :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0016.jpg

    Ferrari lot : i have parts for F40, 250 GTO, 250 Berlinetta, Testarossa, 456 GT, 308 GTB ...
    Just ask !

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0017.jpg

    Retired modern race cars :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0018.jpg

    Porsche lot :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0019.jpg

pile of convertibles : Bmw 645 ci (Norev), Citroen C3 (Maisto), Peugeot 206 CC (Majorette), all with broken windshield so it's easy to make them stick with patafix.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0020.jpg

I have the biggest range of GT40 parts worldwide :)
On top this are plastic China made cars, but on the bottom, it's a vintage Siku (germany) and a early Superfast Matchbox. I should place them on top.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0021.jpg

Pickup and Vans : it's fun how having the same cars in different colors, all wrecked, can make a junkyard diorama looks real.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0022.jpg

Cars totalled by angry kids :

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0023.jpg

related to that point, it's amazing how kid are imaginative to destroy cars, i wondering what happened to this Renault 18 by Majorette, that seemed pretty nice before being ... hem customized.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0029.jpg serge_diecast_junkyard_0030.jpg

I have to confess i've destroyed those two Dacia : they were pretty nice before someone glued their wheels to avoid them to roll (?) and there was a glue incident that made all the glasses damaged, covered by glue, very hard one. So i made them look like wrecked cars.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0028.jpg

Let's finish the visit, city cars lot, with a nice but with missing rear door Autobianchi A112 by Majorette.
The modern Fiat 500 and Ford Ka.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0025.jpg

Two Matchbox Citroen, CX Wagon and SM (broken windshield and playworn)

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0026.jpg

Old cars, and Old cars Replicas, Morgan and Excalibur by Majorette.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0027.jpg

Stored and waiting for their final display. Those plastic box are usefull when we don't care about damaging those cars paint. Though they are well maintained alltogether.

    serge_diecast_junkyard_0031.jpg

Well, i didn't thought i would detail this that much, please tell me if it's boring or interesting.

Also if you own playworn cars that you would like to donate for this Junkyard, don't hesitate to ask me my adress by PM and put them in a letter, i'll be very happy about that. There is room for more models, and you can see what could be nice addition to the existing lots or create a new ones.

Might I suggest cutting the roof/doors off on some of the more broken ones? Makes them look like they've been in a wreck and the driver needed extracation.

Fera >They are already cutted, without roof cars in the place. I prefer to not modify them, it's a playworn junkyard, the end of life of a toy, not ment to be a realistic diorama with injured people and so on.
The town i will do will show these are obviously toys.
So cars are in the state and shape kids abandonned them. I will do more realistic stuff with more recent cars that i've been damaged.

Yes it is, it's mentionned in the description already, but i understand there is a lot to see and read ;)

Hey this is amazing, can't wait to see your pics he he ! If only i kept the ones i"ve godzilla'ed too as a kid. !
There were some nice vintage cars into it, all scrapped. Silly kid.
