It was pretty obvious from the beginning that it was a troll. I'll admit, I was laughing at some of the responses, but some people have taken it way too far.

Of course it's possible. All you have to do is tear the entire thing apart, put in your own USB microcontroller, many of which are purpose made to be used as generic game controllers, hook up the inputs, make an adapter for the included power supply, and off you go!

Now, advisable... hell naw. What you'd spend in parts you can just buy a PC wheel for, and it will be better.

Most things are possible presuming you are willing to put in the work. So yes, you totally could. Whether you should though is another matter entirely, to which I would say it isn't worth it unless you are willing to put a lot of effort into making a novelty racing wheel.

There are circuits you can buy that can take inputs and output them as human interface device (hid) outputs which are universally accepted without needing drivers by any competent os (including win, Android, Linux etc). Presumably the wheel is attached to some kind of potentiometer, if you wire that into one of said circuits then you should be good to go. But it will probably be a fairly crappy gaming experience, the fun would be almost entirely in the process of making the wheel, not the resulting product.

I don't know if the author carefully planned this, but there are currently no moderators online from what I can tell, so it's just going to become worse and worse until one of them wakes up and finds out what happened.
If this thread happened some hours earlier, it would already be gone or locked.

It was perfectly timed to be right after the moderators go offline for the night. Whoever did it knows the forums well enough to have figured that out.

Unfortunately, I don't see this kind of thing stopping. More people are going to see how easy it is and how big the reaction is, which only encourages them to do it.

I tried reading it...stopped at page 18, after the ridiculousness of the spam.

Seriously, guys, I think we should stop replying to threads like that which don't have any meaning to them at all...except waste people's time. Report and move on; that's what I did when I realized what was up.

Welp, YouTube did something to their site that bypasses any and all "force Flash player" Firefox add-ons. None of them work now and some of them break the ability to play videos completely.

And while the Flash Player could show me anything at 720p just fine, their BS HTML5 player starts buffering and locks me to 360potato, on music videos with near-static backgrounds. This is the same BS that happened last time, and is the entire reason I used force-Flash add-ons. Thanks a whole freakin' lot, Google.

See, I just tried to load up an Assetto Corsa video and it only gives me one option from the very beginning, 360p. A lot of people hated Flash for a lot of reasons but at least it FRICKING WORKED. 360p isn't even worth watching in full-screen.

They removed the flash player entirely as Adobe discontinued it and advised it's removal. Get no issues with 4k60 in the HTML player myself

That's the thing. My computer is old and garbage, and I 100% cannot afford the hardware and software upgrades it will take to see videos in HTML5 the same way I saw them in Flash with no serious issues. This HTML5 player is just plain heavier than the Flash one, either that or it tries too hard to be "smart" and decide for you which resolutions you can handle (sort of like the transmission that tries to learn your driving habits instead of just responding promptly to throttle, real nice idea, until you buy the car used from someone who lived in a big city). The loophole of a force-Flash add-on needs to remain open for those of us who can't afford the latest stuff.

~2007ish Dell Optiplex 755, i.e. school district special. Uses Windows XP Professional and an Intel Core2 Duo E6550 @2.33GHz. 4 gigs of RAM; only thing that's ever actually been upgraded on it. Also does not belong to me, so even if it can run Windows 7 or 8, there might be... issues with randomly deciding to upgrade the OS in the middle of a time when it might be needed for work-related tasks. Also, like I said, no one involved can really afford upgrades right now.

Can't load BeamNG, even the tech demo, without crashing, hence why I've been here well over 2 years and still don't have the game.

If I could scavenge enough used parts to build a better system, that would be helpful, but I don't know how cheap it would be possible to go, and my car has started running like utter garbage, and there might be circumstances ahead of me requiring a good cash cushion.

Flash just had better performing video display than html5. This is most evident on older computers. Our old office pc which had a pentium 4 could play flash youtube in HD no problems, when they switched to html5 it absolutely tanked it, from that point on only 480p could be used.
That isn't to say html5 doesn't have its advantages. It certainly does in open it is compared to flash which was very proprietary, plus it has security benefits too. It also performs way better for general website use and integrates very nicely with CSS to make everything more standardized.

You really should update to a more modern os though. WinXP is pretty archaic compared to more modern versions of windows. The automatic upgrade to win 10 issues don't currently exist.

They can't leave a force flash option. Flash is dead, Adobe have canned it. There's no more support for it, they've advised all users migrate away with immediate effect and so Google have.

Doesn't help that the Firefox HTML player sucks. Chrome and edge have the fastest ones, edge probably the better of the two (edge is good for something it turns out)
