Im not sure why you are aiming that directly at teens and no one else. In my experience it tends to be people in their 20s and 30s that I see using their phone while driving the most often.
It probably won't be that simple. It will probably go for damage mitigation based upon who it can hit the slowest.
The issue I have with the kill one of two people argument is that people seem to assume that they or any other person is a perfect being and would always make a rational decision (whatever that may be) . I highly doubt this is the case, and considering that there is no "good" outcome its impossible for a self driving car to make a "good" decision. I guess the advantage the self driving cars may have is that they can be more perceptive of the world around it than a human, even currently they can bounce signals under other vehicles to see what is in front of the car in front.

Then finally, a self driving car shouldn't really ever find itself in the position where it may kill someone. If it's driving in a dense city area it will be traveling at non lethal speeds (under 30mph), even without braking the survival chances are reasonable at that speed, however since it doesn't have long reaction times like humans it will probably be able to slow down further.

If there is a person stood on a motorway it should probably know to slow down in first place to give itself more time to react.

Could you link a news article? My local news is rather incompetent, so, as usual, they failed to report it...

To be fair, if they reported on every distracted driving related death you would probably not get any other news besides it :p

Oh, ok. I thought it was something important, it's just another distracted driving crash?

No, it's not. It is a crash where the driver continued livestreaming even after it showing her sister's corpse with the head smashed open. I'd post a link but I would get beaned because the video is gory.

This. My dad, who happens to be in his 40s, often does a whole load of things while driving. Eating, calling on the phone, (potentially) texting, looking down at his phone...whenever I see him do any of this, I'm like..

Of course, my dad does have a whole load more experience behind the wheel than any teen would, and he tries to keep it reasonable whenever he needs to multitask, but I already know from BeamNG that driving is a complex task that basically requires at least 80% attention at any speed. Thankfully, though, he only has a 2008 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4-liter L4 instead of an old Chevrolet Suburban or something like that.

Hmmm...I thought that I did stupid things on the Internet, but good lord, I haven't ever heard of anyone being stupid enough to live-stream crime (in the post, it mentioned four Chicago teens being arrested because they Facebook Live-streamed an attack on an innocent man). Is this what social media has come down to, being used as, and going down because of? Because that's sad....seriously sad.

Yes, I was over-simplifying it to make the point that they're not completely stupid like a lot of people seem to think. It is a good point that the situations described by people are incredibly unlikely, especially when it comes to fatal crashes. A self-driving car would be able to avoid most of them entirely and the rest would almost certainly just be a single person who walks out from behind a building or something, not a situation where the car would have to choose between things to hit.

Being able to find humour in dark places isn't necessarily a bad thing. It also doesn't make someone a monster (unless they are literally doing it to someone directly effected). For example a read through the Darwin awards website is both hilarious and rather sombre at the same time. Either way, while the above post was a fairly innocuous play with words I can understand why you may be offended by it, but by replying to it and continuing that conversation you are simply creating more of what you don't like (unless you enjoy discussing ethics and so on, in which case fair play).

BTW, on a side note to CaffinatedPixels, if dark humour is your kinda thing, "Four Lions" isn't an entirely bad film recommendation. Its a film about a group of incompetent stereotyped people trying to pull off a terrorist attack. It has some rather entertaining moments.

Just happened to be on the same day as I had ever been to the park, which also happened while I was queuing to go on the ride itself. GG, Alton Towers.

Still had a great day though.

It was really a minor issue, but still put me off a little bit.

Also had a small issue with Nemesis. While we were waiting to go on they had discovered that one of the harnesses or whatever they're called didn't latch properly.
They took the appropriate decision and replaced the carriage thing with a different one.

In other news, I tried @aljowen's special delicacy with cheese melted in. It's actually pretty good.

I think it's best with Heinz though. The stuff I had isn't as good.

Completely re-capped the power supply, replaced the main filter capacitors with some 6,800µF 63v caps to replace the old 4,700µF 50v caps that where low in value, also replaced the original 5B-2 bridge rectifier with a much beefier 24A 800v unit. Got it hooked up to my 8ohm test load with some headphones on hooked up to my PC. Sounds great.
