Hi, i have a problem with the transmission "clutch", i did everything like in this guide, but i only have a keyboard so my throttle is just on/off so the "clutch" just slips and i redline all the time. :( I tried putting ridiculous amounts to the viscouscoupling and lockingtorquelimit but nothing seems to work :s

Have you tried using different gear ratio's or adding gears? also make sure you change the shift points if you increased the redline RPM, maybe try adjusting your torque curve a bit more.

Yeah, i changed the ratios to the same as in this guide, i also tried shorter ratios but no, the engine has too much power for the clutch to handle. Also tried to change the shift points

You can try out what I'm using if you want. It's good for about 260mph, and other then second and third it shifts nicely. with AWD and tuned suspension/tires the covet is so much fun, it loves to drift.

Still the same problem, i don't know if this is a bug or something, but when i press the up arrow, clutch slips and the engine revs to redline and instantly shifts to highest gear and then accelerates really slow because the clutch is slipping :( But when i press the down arrow, and go to reverse, i get wheel spin and the clutch doesn't slip at all. Sucks that i can't make supercars at all :/

Give me your engine file, or whatever has the transmission info in it.

I know what's happening, but it might be tough to walk you through it. Easier for me to look at it and just fix it.

I already replaced the modified file with a backup of the original, I'm just wondering what was wrong because I modified a Cargo Box Van to be so ridiculously powerful and no clutch slip at all.

Edit: I'm an idiot, i had the wrong transmission selected for the car, that is why it failed.

This sounds very interesting, but I am quite clumsy with codes, and really, not skilled in any way with it. Do you know if there is a chance that you can upload this setup for the Covet to the forums? I personally enjoy it, because my tablet is not the best computer for this, and the Covet doesn't make me lag. I also loved your pickup mod that you posted. Very useful for getting around.

I'll custom make a well-rounded performance covet and PM it to you. I'll get back to you shortly.

Does anyone know how to make the tires pop easier? I've tinkered with the tire files and stuff, and I've looked around. Can' find any tutorials on it.

I want to learn how to create individual part files for the cars, mainly the suspension, looking through the jbeam file with my noob experience i'm learning fast though. Just needing to know how to can create.. like lets say just the front shocks for the truck, package it and drop it in the directory and be able to choose it.

Thanks for this! I will have to try it when I get time. Been wanting to modify the cars for a while.

I have learned a few more 'in-depth' things since making this.

Like adding a selectable 'Turbo', or 'Engine tune/stage' or making other parts of the same vehicle selectable (Dually cargo van wheels on the regular van).

So I may update this and add a few things.

I'm super glad that people have found this and it helped them, that's my main goal. I want people to learn that the vehicle files are literally just a sandbox that can be played in and modified.

    - - - Updated - - -

Updated with exactly this! Look for section 6.

I covered two specific topics. Adding an extra selectable part (like coilovers), and making a separate engine.

Let me know if you would like to know something more specific, and I'll just cover it in the reply.

Well I have a question. I want to do some adjustments to the suspension of the d15 and make it to my liking. Can I just make one jbeam file with only the front shocks/coilover rear shocks/leaf Springs and make a package.

You could, but you can achieve the same thing with just adding an extra part under the original, then select it in game and save it as a load-out or 'package'.

Like 'Custom sport coilovers', and 'Custom rear leafs'. Select it in the menu then save the truck as 'V8 Custom', or whatever.

I will be having a close read of this so I can mod the cars and make them into drifting animals...although my skill at the wheel...okay controller for me has to improve as well..

No idea why I never really tried tweaking the JBeam's before. Had a go at throwing an electric motor roughly equivelant to that of the tesla roadster into the pickup. Got a few tweaks to do to it (shift points for auto transmission and probably gear ratios themselves primarily) and it makes the assumption that an electric motor produces 100% torque at 0rpm and 0 torque at full RPM with a linear relationship.

As it stands right now it certainly doesnt have the performance of a tesla roadster :p But it has a different drivetrain and is a big old pickup which has more drag and of course weighs more so if it did perform like the tesla I would have been kinda surprised. I'm kinda happy with it actually, it is slower than the original I6. Still some tweaking to do.

Once I am at the point where I am happy with it I will post the JBeam file and then try a few other vehicles (read: golf buggy).

There are at least 4 other "custom crawlers", including mine. I would suggest you try something else.

Anyway, the trans is located in the 'engine_i6' file.
