Economy Driving Challenge - Covet

2:20 with 0.14L left. Was more about driving eco than fast, but turned out I was quite fast too
(Using a wheel)
Oh and that was my first try, didn't even hit anything!

 

I did it in 2:06 with 0.15 liters left. No crashes I think I'm the fastest so far.

EDIT: I even managed to make another lap, not driving very fast though (drove mostly on 3rd and 4th gear barely giving any gas @ 2000 RPM), but I had 0.04 liters left

Nice! Once I figure out why I'm lagging so bad then figure out what's wrong with my Fanatec gt3rs v2.. Keeps forgetting settings etc. I'll be giving it a run

Ran out of gas the first try, hit a tree and ran out of gas the second, hit a rock the third, but I did it the fourth try! (running mostly 2-3rd gear, around 40-70% gas. Just an estimate.)

I'll keep trying until I beat the 2:06 which I think is the record so far?

EDIT: AW YEAH. 2:05. I ran out of gas right before crossing the line too. I'll record another one as proof.

 

Thats way too much throttle.

The way I did it was get to 70km/h(40mph) using gears quickly, then stay at around that on 4th gear nudging the throttle. On 4th all the way around the island except the hill where I downshifted and added more throttle to get up it (after the hill I basically used no throttle though).
There's logic behind this, and it's all physics. Air drag is exponential, not sure what it's for the covet but I think the difference from 70km/h and 100km/h might be double. Another thing is that when you're in a low gear and high rpm you don't need that much throttle to move the car but then again you do, since the low gear means the wheels turn harder with the engine (as opposed to a higher gear where it's easier to turn the engine with the wheels) and the engine has higher friction at greater rpm. Now just balance it all and you can drive eco and fast! lol

After 7 trys and several crashes I got a final time of 2:07 , Fuel left? Absolutely none haha, the car run out of fuel about 10 seconds to the finish line, but managed to get there only with momentum lol. I could have made a time of about 2:03 :'c

Well from my testing if your too hard on the gas it'll run out before you finish.

A bit more agressive than me, I used way to much time the 4th gear, lower rpm, I though it would consume less but seems like your approach works better. haha

 

I improved my time a bit: from 2:06 and 0.15 liters left to 2:05 and 0.17 liters left I believe I'm the most fuel-efficient racer here

EDIT: New time 2:03 and 0.14 liters left!

 

Nice. I should try to actually save fuel instead of aiming to use it all when I cross the line.

 

Driving at about 15-20 mph I managed to do almost 3 laps with the same amount of fuel! (Completely unrelated with the topic but yey, pretty good right? )
