Hello, I'm just now starting to get in to skin making. And I've got a question that I can't seem to find any information about. So far, I've figured out how to make skins, and only replace a default skin with my new one. I was wondering, how do I add a skin to the drop down menu in the customization menu? Thanks.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I did what you said, (I've been doing it all along). And it still didn't work. Here is what I named my skin: barstow_skin_Race.dds
I also went into the materials document and added it in there in the exact format that all the other skins are in. And still it's not on the dropdown menu. Is there a way that you can give me the exact steps?

The reason it's not showing up is, due to what you said, I assume you lack a Jbeam.

Yes, that was the problem. The skin is now showing in the dropbox. But here is the problem, the skin is not showing up on the car. I don't really know why though. I've done the DDS, I followed all the instructions for the material.cs, and everything. But it still isn't showing up on the car.

It's materials.cs. Upload your materials.cs and let me take a look.

Provided your skin is called "earnhardt" this should fix it. :)

You mapped the skin to barstow.skin.earnhardt instead of earnhardt

Unfortunately, that didn't fix it either. The skin is called "barstow_skin_earnhardt.dds". That is located in the folder with the material.cs and jbeam file in documents/beamng.drive/vehicles/barstow

    Here is the entire folder

    First problem:
Your .jbeam is wrong and is going to break somebody's Barstow at some point.
You should never ever include the entire 'main' slot in your .jbeam. If we change it, and a user is still using yours, stuff will break easily for him.
So, trimmed down to the essential, and with adjusted brackets (those were wrong too):

    Second problem:

Since it's for the barstow, this must be corrected:

    Third problem:
    Texture name doesn't match:

    Fourth problem:
This file has the wrong name

    It's materials.cs,

    Done everything, it works:

Hey there, I've got one more question for you. I've made another skin that I'd like to release to the public. So, I left the main body parts transparent so that they can change the body color, but not affect the decals. However, when changing colors it also changes the decal colors as well. How can I fix this? And, here are the files, if you don't mind fixing it.

Because it's a normal skin and not set up to be colorable.
