Yeah, as a general rule, the smaller the car, the better looking a 2 door will look. That said, some small cars can look great with 4 doors, for instance the E70 Corolla:

On squarer cars like the ke70 corolla or the Hakusoku skyline the 4 door does look quite good but with rounder looking cars like the torana or even an Excel, the 2 door usually looks better and if i ever came across 2 identical cars where the only difference is the number of doors, i would always take the 2 door. Not sure that blue car proves the first half of what you said Maybe without the black paint it looks ok EDIT Had a little look into them now. To me that seems to be the worst looking generation with the newer ones looking way nicer. Although that body style with the rounded headlights doesn't look so bad. Newest one is my favourite, probably because it looks like an Evo though
Yeah the newer Falcons look a whole lot less ugly than the older ones in my opinion, but I think the VE Commodore looks the best out of all 4-door modern Aussie sedans yes this example isn't a 4-door but whatever ok
Honestly I think the VF & FGX were symbols of how Australia can design a world class car. Just a shame we'll never see what the future could've held had our Automotive industry been protected.
How is a 4 door version of a car any less fun or sporty than its coupe counterpart, aesthetics aside? I mean, is it not the same exact car, just with 2 more doors? Ill give that one to you though, the 4 door chevelle is a bit on the ugly side. The torana is ugly too. Sorry.

Never, and neither is that concept car. In the same way that a Lotus Evora isn't a super car and neither is the Alfa Romeo 4C. However from the design it does look like it will be mid engine, which assuming that is a corvette certainly would be a large deviation from the standard formula. If that is the case I would probably prefer to see it under a different name. But there isn't anything in that image to suggest that it isn't a sports car.
The Corvette could easily be considered a supercar. Especially the Z06. Everyone loves to hate on it because GM tends to have awful quality, but the latest Corvettes have been very awesome. They're easily fast enough to keep up and outpace other traditional supercars. One of my mom's coworkers has a Z06 that he takes to Road America all the time, and he easily outdoes some of the other supercars that show up
That is a fair point. It is kinda strange. I guess the differentiating factor is that most super cars are perceived as being high tech and precise while the corvette tends to be perceived as more muscle like. But the new ones are quick cars.
You're right. I think "sportiness" in the context of muscle cars is kind of irrelevant though. I think the preferability of 2-doors comes almost completely down to aesthetics.
Corvette is like a fine line between Muscle and Sports. I feel it's leaning toward muscle, and Muscle is all about Power, and Muscle and ect... I feel like they're trying to... refine it. Make it mid engined, more tame, losing that free muscle-y spirit. It just doesn't look imposing anymore.
