I've been slow lately now that classes have ended. Only getting some real folding done over the weekends when I'm at work. I'll really kick it into high gear this summer though, when I get a 1080ti and build a second machine, and start working everyday of the week.
I've learned that all of my CPUs are practically useless for folding, being dual cores at best. So, I've had my GTX 950 going, and have yet to rebuild the Miracle Machine (to be renamed when I rebuild) to hold my GTX 650.
New computer. I'm coming for the #8 spot. For what it's worth, my wife has Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia (at 27), and my mom beat Leukemia, still fighting. Folding with a purpose I suppose.
I'm not sure if I'm folding, the web control won't work. Just keeps reloading no matter what. GPU likes to fail, and I only have 1.5M points. Recently did a GPU driver update, but it was broken before that.
Looking on the points page it doesn't look like you're folding with the GPU. Not sure what would cause that. Maybe try advanced control, or starting folding from the taskbar menu thing? Everyone has kinda slowed down though, and that's understandable. I can't fold anymore because it is wayyy too warm here. Just waiting for winter.
I completely forgot my computer is still folding, so I have 2M points and haven't noticed anything since 1M
I turned the Folding down from high on idle to low on idle. This way it shouldn't burn out my GPU quickly, I need it to last as long as possible. I'm to broke to afford another one. And make that 3.5M points
Quick question, does folding have the same effect on hardware as mining? My PC folds an average of 16 hours a day in the summer, 20 otherwise. I just want to make sure, as I'm not in any position to replace hardware.
I'd say it is harder on your hardware than most stuff, but not near as bad as mining. Mining is known for killing cards, and I haven't heard of folding cards straight up dying.
5 years, 1 month, 11 days ago, to be specific. Or 1868 days. That is a lot of time, back then even 700 series of Nvidia desktop GPUs weren’t out
Good times. I think I was still folding on my 7770 back then. Wish I could still fold now but I'm not around my PC enough to fold without someone stopping it for weeks at a time.
