Hello! This is a challenge inspired by the BeamNG Hypermiling Challenge, and made possible by the new "Fuel Level" slider in Vehicle Tuning.
The goal of this challenge is to go as far as humanly possible on a single liter (0.22 Imperial Gallons or 0.26 US Gallons) of fuel.

    Rules:

1 - The Map: Grid, Small, Pure.

We will use this map to remove as many variables as possible.

    2 - Fuel Level
Fuel level must be set to 1 L using the Vehicle Tuning settings.

    3 - Vehicles
    Only vanilla game vehicles
are allowed for this challenge. You may modify cars however you like, but you may not remove body parts (glass, doors, trunk, hood, etc). Feel free to swap engines, transmissions, tires/wheels, and even remove interior seats.

    4 - Results
To measure your results, you must use the in-game trip computer set to "total distance." Remember to reset it before starting your run. You may drive however you like, and you are allowed to coast to a stop after you run out of fuel.

    5 - Submissions
When you submit your entry to this competition, please include: vehicle, modifications made (if any), and your screenshot showing the distance you covered. You may also post your average speed and your average fuel economy.

For example: here is my submission. I used an unmodified Covet 1.5 DXi with a manual transmission, and I went 5.7 miles on 1 Liter of fuel, driving at top speed and averaging about 16 MPG.

    Good luck, and have fun!

EDIT 1: Added volume conversions for Imperial and US gallons.
EDIT 2: Clarified rules of the competition, to allow coasting to a stop.

I'd have to run the test again... but I think it was pretty mediocre, since I was going at full throttle and top speed.

I guess it's allowed to let the car roll to a halt once it runs out of fuel, right?

That's what I did... made sense to use the kinetic energy of the car to coast, since I had already expended the potential energy in the fuel. I'll edit the post to mention that.

I used a base model of a K-series. I averaged 50 MPG and I went 11.1 miles. I was going 37 mph the whole way.

Here we go, Ibishu Hopper XT-4 with a manual transmission. No mods, only thing I've done to increase my range was to disconnect the transfer case. 12.9 miles covered with an average speed of 18.6 mph. My average fuel consumption was around 4.7 l/100km.

Are developer quality mods allowed? (ie. The S-Series?)

The reason I'm staying away from mods is because some of them aren't exactly realistic. The S-Series is pretty darn close, though. So I guess I can make an exception, just for the S-series.

Also, i think we should have 2 extra rules. it should be street legal, and it should be able to reach 55mph (90kph)

I did mention in the rules that you can't remove stuff like body panels. And the speed requirement is not needed. In fact, it's better without any minimum speed, as it lets people try different methods in order to get the most out of that litre of fuel.

But if you leave it at that, people will do 1 mph and that is way to extreme.

I took the "DX" (A) Model of the 96 pessima, I was very pessimistic, with the car giving all its small motor could go I managed to get a miserable 7.3 km down the road before coasting to a halt.

Actually, running an engine that close to idle is a very inefficient way to do it. There's a reason cars get worse MPG in town.

Low revs and high speed is best. So top gear at 1000-1500 RPM will get you the best mileage.
