I would love hear tips on making epic crash compilation videos like Crash Driven, InsaneGaz etc. I have no idea how to make sweet videos so would love to hear tips from you guys.
1) Abuse 'pause' (J). Use it to have the time to change your camera angle, and etc. 2) Use the smoothed camera. Either use 'Photomode' and then hide the UI via ALT+U (and J to pause/resume the simulation), or F11 > Camera > Smoothed Rotate 3) Play with FOV. Lower FOV is usually nicer to see (30-40, but don't exaggerate) (You can change that easily using photomode) 4) Slowmotion. Record in slowmotion, then speed up the recording via editing software. It will make your footage look smoother if you can't achieve good FPS in real-time.
Almost everyone loves slow motion crashes. You will need video editor, I have found they are bit hard to come by. -Lightworks seems to make ok videos and actually works, but has annoying UI. -VSDC free video editor is nicer to use, imo, but it tends to make glitches to my videos. -DaVinci Resolve might be nice, earlier versions worked, but latest I tried few weeks ago did just say media offline for every clip. Then you need way to record videos, if you have Nvidia card or Intel CPU with integrated graphics (have to be enabled), you can use OBS, Open Broadcast Studio and set up Quick Sync or Nvidia's alternative to record videos without too much of performance impact. You will need terabytes of diskspace and do lot of practice. Remember, car will have controls after switching vehicle to other with tab like it had at moment you switched vehicle with tab key, so you can set up slow motion, make one car to accelerate, pause and tab to other vehicle and original car will keep accelerating, it takes practice to get things setup right, timing etc. but that is the start.
