...and I can see clearly now the rain is gone! Seriously it's the best decision I've ever made in my life. I am typing this post without glasses. My previous vision was 20/400 farsighted and it's now around 20/40 nearsighted but it will get better over a 6 month recovery period (to 20/20 or 20/15). I went from being blind and disabled without glasses to being able to see almost perfectly without glasses only an hour after the surgery. I would recommend anyone who has considered Lasik or anyone with less than perfect vision to consider it. It's changed my life!
I'm happy for you. My dad had it done in the very early 2000s, I can only imagine the process is even more refined. Enjoy the gift of vision my friend, a lot of your brain is just a gpu.
I can't have the surgery since my farsight is to bad to treat with this surgery. but aside from that i would never laser my eyes. you are still damaging your retina with these kind of surgerys and you can have nasty complications long after such surgery. But nevertheless I'm happy for you that it gave the desired result
My eye sight is degrading rapidly and it is genetic, it has been so fast last years, that I had to resort to cheap Chinese glasses to be able to read anything, cost would of been too much to get real glasses twice a year or even faster. What I was surprised was that Chinese readinglasses from Eyewell are actually pretty good, they cost less than a 10 dollars/euros delivered, come with a box and wipe, but best thing is they don't scratch easily and straight lines are pretty straight with them on. After eye sight stabilizes, I really have to look into these operations, because it is so hard to see anything without glasses.
There is always a chance it could go bad, but the results have honestly been astounding. I'd risk a lot to have good eye sight again if something happened to mine.
You need glasses this strong for reading? http://www.visionenhancers.co.uk/Co...opic-12x-Magnifying-Spectacles-Both-Eyes.html I have a +48 diopter pair coming in the mail very soon.
I only have trouble reading small text far away. My vision is actually 20/25 the day after surgery, and will improve over time. I was fully aware of the complications known as I had to sign a 4 page waiver describing them and saying I agreed to the consequences. My eyesight was so bad that it was a no-brainer for me. I can operate my PC without a hitch (text and image isn't any harder to see than before with glasses) and driving is also a similar story. The procedure has been improved greatly since it came out and I was able to see clearly as soon as I left the operating room. I have some really powerful (dark) shades I can wear when I am out in the sun, and I have to wear goggles to bed for a few days to protect my eyes, but other than that, I can lead a normal life without glasses!
Nice, hope all stays well @everyone else: Before you consider doing this, please read about the risks: https://www.google.com/?q=lasik+risks
for a second i thought Tdev was getting lasik. OT: congrats! i hope things keep going uphill from here!
Priceless deep thinking...love it. As for the topic at hand, congrats OP. I may need this in five years or so and good to hear a success story.
Congrats. My Dad got it successfully about 5-7 years ago. I'll have to ask him. My Ma and I both can't get it because our eyesight is too horrible and we have too many floaters. My right eye prescription is -9.56 -1.50 x 175. My left eye prescription is -7.00 -1.30 x 180. They're pretty terrible. My mother's is much worse. Anyways, congrats. And enjoy your new eyes.
Update: 7 days since surgery. My eyesight has notably improved since the surgery day. Even though it was already pretty good (20/25), I can tell a fairly big difference today. Overall, the recovery is going very well.
