So that means copyrighted mods are removed from the repository but still available to download from the forum, correct? Or am I missing out on something here?
All the lisenced vehicles or sounds from a game are removed but are still able to download on the forum. If you understand that, you are good to go.
All the repository content is approved by us. We cannot approve 'copyrighted/trademarked' content for obvious reasons. The mods on the forums are not mainted by us, but up to the user. Any copyright/trademark stuff is up to the user himself.
I rate 4.5/5. This is an ESSENTIAL vehicle to have in BeamNG... The definitive "Police Car," this Mod does not disappoint. The P71 is a heavy V8 full-size sedan with plenty of everything you would expect from a police car... big engine, solid tires/wheels, sturdy suspension, and lots of weight. This car looks and handles pretty much exactly as it should, and is a fairly accurate representation of a real Ford Crown Victoria with the police Pursuit Package. I would say it's strengths are it's sturdy chassis, suspension, and wheels. The author has done a really good job at modeling and engineering this vehicle to be realistic... except, it just feels a little bit over-geared for it's engine. Having never driven a real P71, my opinion is worth as much as the next person's... but: I know the real P71 has good torque, and a 4-speed tranny, and the top gear is very long. This is fact, but something about 4th gear in this car really drags in-game. You can move the vehicle to it's (accurately realistic) top speed of approx. 140+ MPH but it takes a really long, flat road to do so. Which is relatively realistic, however, I feel that the real car wouldn't jump to 4th immediately at 82 MPH every time... once you are in 4th gear, the rate of acceleration decreases very significantly... which is a realistic feature of this car, for sure, but probably does not deserve as much emphasis as this car is modeled in-game. It almost feels as if the car was modeled spec-for-spec off of the actual P71's specifications 100%... which, when converted into virtual reality, does not always add up to 100% realism/simulation. I think the transmission/gear ratios with regard to the final drive ratio needs to be tweaked slightly. 0-60 might be spot on with the real car, but I don't think 0-100 MPH is very accurate. The car has difficulty accelerating between 80 to 100 MPH, which might be caused either by the transmission or engine modeling. Everything else about the car (braking, turning, weight distribution, and body construction/damage modeling) is superb! Again, it's a really excellent vehicle, and the differences in perceived realism, etc. may be error on my part, or just the way the game is. It is still probably one of the most realistically modeled "IRL" vehicles in the game. In any case, it's an excellently detailed model, and definitely a must-have if you enjoy any kind of Police action in-game. Escaping this vehicle as it chases you around on the getaway, or using it to tackle fleeing suspects is extremely satisfying. Keep up the great work, Dev's!
Sorry but you bumped an thread. And if you are saying to yourself what is a bump? well bump means that the last post was in 2016 or 2015 or it had no update, the thread will go to the top to the vechicle forums and some people find it annoying so don"t bump an old thread please.
There will be no further updates AFAIK. Yes, if you get the most recently updated version it should work in 0.8. At least mine does.
Yes, it directly answers the post I quoted :| And yes, it works in 0.8. No. Even if 'debadge' it, the quality is much inferior than what we ship with the game.
I have to admit, having this baby updated to today's jbeam and technical standards would be neat....hell it'd be plain awesome!
You can't just rebadge it, it's still designed by Ford, you have to remodel it to fit in games with no brand licensing!
