Rest assured, CryEngine does feature smoke physics and proper particle physics, it can be implemented .
As far i can tell, smoke/fume fx is used as a render tool in 3dmax or maya.my question is wold be possible to render that effect in real time in the game? like at 50 frame rate?
CryEngine3 has it implemented already, which is perfect for terrains. Not sure about vehicles though, there is some particle type that it uses but I'm not too fond of it.
The smoke looks cool, but I hope (if they do add smoke to crashes) that the car is still visible. It would suck if the damage of the crash was hidden because the smoke was too thick. Great idea though.
you know, i just looove simulations.Any program that repreoduces anything as realistically as possible. Would be awsome if the amount of smoke depended on the location of the hit. -in a frontal hit: a steam comes out of the bumper,or from under the hood indicating a radiator damage. -under the car hit:increased chances of fire,coming from the fuel tank or fuel injectors of the engine,that means: black smoke. -if the car overturns: besides little pieces of metal being thrown out of the car,particles of gas,water or steam depending on the location of the impact. here is a video of a car crashing in a game called just cause 2.Notice how the particles,dust and smoke coming out of the car enchances the hit effect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyjU29Tz-Ws Those examples i gave up there are just what my little experience watching car crash tests videos showed to me hahahaha I pretty shure you guys have more interesting and complete ideas so lets discuss about it.I REALLY want that the developers see this Thread and start making some changes and improvements to the game. cheers
I also like the idea of that type of smoke. I mean, it is a little extra, but I like it. Good driving noise, creaks and such would also make the game very good also.
It's possible to implement the smoke in real time ... but the ''terrain collision could be more difficult to do'' The first videos are really awesome but both are rendered , so they aren't in real time ... we need to wait for the moment

Im not a computer expert and i dont know anything about programing but theres have to be a way to put algorithms that can simplify the effects process.Any ideas?
