Hello Everyone! Today I was wondering if you guys have any cars you think are overpriced. I believe the Jeep Grand Cherokee is way to overvalued, mainly because you can get many different SUVs for much less money. What cars do you think are overpriced?
A lot of high-end cars like that are actually sold at a significant loss. Most of those companies make more money licensing their name for ridiculous merchandise than by selling cars. As for cars I think are overpriced, I would say pickups and SUVs. They're not overpriced per se, but they're all considered luxury vehicles now and come with a bunch of stuff I don't want. It's impossible to get a quality bare-bones off-roader anymore.
Ferrari alone has 56 000€ margins which is astronomical compared to just 15 600€ Porsche makes on a car. I'd doubt they would sell their cars at a loss especially when they know their buyers would buy them no matter how much they cost. It is worth that much when you consider the amount of money and effort that went just into developing the Chiron.
I know for fact that if a porsche employee buys a new 911 he can sell it with profit after 1 year so 15600 euro margin is a bit to low
Chrysler Town and country 2011 Not worth 35 Grand, probably one of the worst decisions of my life, even thouh I did'nt buy the car, but mostly because I've spent 7K on repairs. Most of the repairs are the Engine and the A/C
An aquiantance of mine makes a living driving super cars. He buys an f12 or any car in that class and drives it for six months. After that period, the dealership calls him and offers to buy it back for 50k more than the original price. He does this on the side twice a year with 3 cars each time and makes bank. Once you buy 3 or 4 ferraris they play favorites and give you first shot at new inventory. The dealership uses this strategy to ultimately get more cars shipped to them than should be alloted. The margins are hi as hell on super cars.
2015 MSRP $49,000 - $52,000 2000 MSRP $25,711 - $28,627 You're certainly right. And counting for inflation, the price of the Suburban base model from 2000 would be $35,388.76 in 2015.
I'd say ETK K series 68 000$ - 108 000$ !!! - I thought that I'd buy one, but not for that price, it's too much. Can I get a discount for 2016 year models?
most new cars I mean a well equipped mid-high range modern muscle car is nearly 40,000 dollars yet a fullly loaded 1979 trans am 10th anniversary which was the most expensive firebird at the time adjusted for inflation is under 30,000 or a more recent example the ford ranger, in the 80's they where dirt cheap 4x4 trucks that almost everyone could afford and by the time they killed it it was nearly 40,000 or heck just trucks in general
Well I was basically going to make a post about this in general car discussion but it fits here as well. The Nissan r34 skylines, you're lucky to find any one in decent condition for under $20k or you could get gt3000 VR4 twin turbo that has more power, and weights slightly less,(because apparently the skylines were advertised as being quite a bit lighter than they actually were from what I understand) and is AWD for under $10k. Edit: well the main saving grace for the r34 is gas mileage... so its a great car if you are willing to overpay for a mediocre sports car that gets gas milage like an economy car.
