Forum rating system

yeah, I'd like there to be a "disagree" button. Regardless of abuse actually as the agree can be as easily "abused". The idea being that I can disagree with people without having to post... thats nice when it comes to inannities like "This car looks like this completely unrelated car" spam on content threads. There do exist posts that require flack and it'd be nice to do it without opening the doors for flamewars.

 

Still waiting on a "Get out" button...

 

My opinion on the last changes.

Although I like the current state better than the first version, I think that "disagree" button would be nice to have in many situations. For example, when people are discussing some topics and someone just writes in things that are not true. Then we could just "disagree" and others without further reading would be warned that it might not be true.

In my opinion, not having "dislike" is a good change. I see few cases where that option would be wanted or needed.

Last thing I wanted to talk about is "thanks". I like this option, it is nice and useful, but I think the good old "like" is needed too. Maybe as a seperate option.

 

Yes i agree. It's just weird to say "thanks" to a post where a user shows some nice screenshots. I guess yo could use the "awesome" one but that one just seems like a stronger version of just "like". Would rather have just the "Like" option added without anything else removed.

 

Where did the like button go? If you like something, you don't say "I thanks this car/house/tree/etc."

 

Back when forum used vBulletin, "likes" were named "Thanks". I like "thanks" one more, IMO.

 

IMO the best would be to have the classic like button, but additional reactions, that could be hidden by default. Having all the symbols down there on every post makes it a bit clattered up.

 

Seconded. Hitting the right icon is somewhat difficult on smaller touchscreens.

 

^ It sounds to me that the best one to fit the things that everyone is saying is a simple pos/neg reputation button. That way it's a more ambiguous term, you just rate something as good or bad and the post will have a total counter on it, the way some sites like GTA5-Mods do:

There's no confusion like thanking a picture or anything, but of course this is another one that people could abuse.

 

I still think the "agree" button is quite nice to have.

 

I like agree myself, I'm just saying that what the others seem to want is probably a rep system.

I see that the rating system has been cut down a little, and I think it looks a lot better that way.

Still don't like how the icons on it look like they came from an extinct forum from 2004.

 

I think dislike should be anonymous in case there's going to be wars if you dislike a post you hate

I don't know what developers think, but it feels like dislike isn't coming back. I have no idea about "disagree" though.
In any case, wars aren't the thing that makes this forum a better place. Reporting or replying with some logical arguments is far better solution in those cases IMO.

 

Rather this than those ugly whatsapp emojis . I think they should have some darker colors maybe though, something definitely doesn't feel right about them. Maybe they should be monochrome?

I think it is good that they put these new rating things. It is better then saying "I agree" and then spam the thread. But it would be nice if the disagree thing came back because it had a use. It would also be better if you would get informed for the other ratings like "____" rated you informative.
