So, heres a Common idea I get ''Why haven't they done a Jbeam for all the Front Seats?'' Because when you crash hard enough the driver seat can stick out of the roof which isn't Realistic enough, but this is a Beta so I expect this maybe to come in the future or not.
What @grayman9000 means is this: Note how the driver's seat is perfectly undamaged and poking through the roof of this SBR4.
Yes! This is why its kinda Unrealistic, it should be like Irl where the seat can actually Break! or tilt backwards, but it seems it also has to be done on both front seats
Jbeam as of right now cannot simulate the material of fabric or leather, only metal. if it were to be j beamed, it would get even more glitch y. Also, it would get more lag from all the beams
True, we just need to find a Way to do Such thing, until then were stuck with this. --- Post updated --- I mean, not exactly Jbeam but something like a 3D simulation tool to resemble the seats and how it bends and breaks.
No, that's not true. The limitation is that n/b isn't good at ripping or tearing, but is more than capable of simulating a simple plastic/metal structure that is the structure of the seats. Leather/fabric only accounts for the surface cover, it's not structural. Somebody actually made a mod for jbeamed seats a while ago, and it worked very well. It's probably not done officially simply for performance reasons, although I would really like to see it happen.
I always thought it was more because Jbeams tend to get "unstable" when they have low weight which is why the RC cars weight so much.
Honestly, just having the seats be divided between the lower seat and the upper backrest and have those 2 parts be able to move, break, or be separated from the car would already make the game and crashes feel a lot better. Also, on the topic, seats should be expanded. I really wanna see sports or racing seats. Maybe those never break since they are all a single part? What about the ability to use trap belts if you have a sports/racing seat and a roll cage installed? Is that so? how odd.
i hope they find a solution in the future. the interior of the cars have always been glitchy and its especially annoying when the seats clip throught the roof. it makes a great looking wreck look really bad wasnt there a mod that added the stig to the d-series? i believe the interior was jbeamed in order to archieve that so it must be possible.
Yes it is possible, but the devs dont do that becuase more nodes/beams make the fps worse. Here an example http://www.beamng.com/threads/seats-clipping-fix.26747/
@CryDev i have a quick question for you. What sort of beam properties were you using to make the seats bounce back in the thread you linked to? Was it like a low beam spring and high beam damp. It would be interesting to know the properties of objects like this because i am trying to learn and understand the effect the different properties of the beams give to an object. Such as springing back like the seats you made. Good to see you engaging with the community recently, i wasn't here when you were well known but its nice to see a return.
i see, well that is sad. any reason why you chose not to continue with that mod? looked really promising and i think many of us could live with a slightly heavier jbeam. even with the seats jbeamed i doubt these cars would get as hard to run as a t-series for example.
I dont know that anymore, sorry . I was using h series seat jbeam values for the beginning, and then i tweaked them many times.
